The DS-2DF8C448I5XG1-ELW is a 4 MP IP PTZ speed dome with 48× optical zoom and laser illumination to 500 m. It runs over network cable to an NVR.
It pans 360° and tilts -20° to 90° with auto flip and smart pan-tilt correction, holds 300 presets and supports patrol and pattern scans, so it can run a tour unattended.
Laser illumination is a focused beam that narrows as the lens zooms in, so the light lands on what the camera is actually looking at instead of flooding the whole scene. That is why it reaches 500 m where conventional IR would have run out long before.

Frequently asked questions
How much zoom do I need?
This model has 48× optical zoom, reaching 288 mm. As a rule of thumb, 4× suits a forecourt, 15–25× a car park or yard, and 32× or more a long boundary. Digital zoom is not a substitute — it only enlarges pixels.
How far does it see at night?
Hikvision quotes laser illumination to 500 m. That is the illumination range, not the identification range.
How does this differ from the 60× version?
The DS-2DF8C260I5XG1-ELW reaches further optically (360 mm against 288 mm) but is 2 MP. This one is 4 MP, so you get more detail across the frame at the cost of some reach. Same laser, same 500 m.
Will standard PoE power it?
No. It needs 36 V DC or 802.3bt (type 3, class 6) at up to 60 W. A standard 802.3af or 802.3at switch will not run it, and an undersized supply is the usual reason a PTZ resets when it moves — check the power row above before ordering.
Can it follow someone automatically?
Yes. Hikvision lists manual tracking and auto-tracking 3.0 for this model, so it will lock on to a moving person or vehicle and follow it.
