The DS-2SE3C404MWG-E/14 is a dual-channel PTZ: one fixed wide-angle camera that records continuously, and one 4× zoom PTZ in the same housing. That solves the problem every single-lens PTZ has — while the zoom is pointed at one thing, nothing is watching everywhere else. Here the fixed channel keeps recording the whole scene whatever the PTZ is doing.

Both channels are 4 MP. The PTZ channel has IR to 40 m; the fixed channel has IR and white light to 30 m, so you can have colour at night on the wide view. One cable, one IP address, one licence on the recorder.

This is the compact model in the TandemVu range — a 12-inch, 1.3 kg unit on 12 V DC or PoE+, with a 2.8–12 mm zoom rather than a long lens. It suits a shop frontage, a small yard or a driveway, where you want the whole scene plus the ability to look closer at the gate. For anything at real distance, the 15× and 25× models are the ones to look at.

Frequently asked questions

What does dual-channel actually give me?

Two cameras in one housing on one cable. The fixed wide channel records the whole scene continuously, so you still have evidence of everything that happened while the PTZ was zoomed in elsewhere. On a single-lens PTZ, that footage simply does not exist.

Does it use two channels on my recorder?

Yes. Budget two channels and the bandwidth for both streams. That matters when you are sizing the NVR and the storage, so tell us how many of these you are fitting and we will work it out with you.

Is 4× enough zoom?

For a frontage, a driveway or a small yard, yes — 2.8 to 12 mm covers wide to moderately close. For a car park or a boundary it is not; look at the 15× DS-2SE4C415MWG-E/14 or the 25× version instead.

What is the difference between the /14 and /26 versions?

The /14 has a fixed bullet-style channel with a narrower view; the /26 has a fixed panoramic channel covering around 180°. Same PTZ, different fixed camera — so pick /26 when you want the whole frontage covered and /14 when you want more detail from the fixed channel.

How far does it see at night?

Hikvision quotes IR to 40 m on the PTZ channel. The fixed channel has IR to 30 m and white light to 30 m, so it can stay in colour at night if you want it to.
