The DS-2SE7C432IWG-K/4G/14 is a complete off-grid camera: a 4 MP dual-channel TandemVu PTZ, an 80 W solar panel and a 360 Wh lithium battery pack, with 4G LTE for the video link. It goes where there is no mains and no network — a field, a compound, a construction site, a remote gate, a temporary setup that has to move again in three months.

The camera itself is dual-channel: one fixed wide camera recording continuously with IR to 30 m, and one 32× zoom PTZ with IR to 200 m in the same housing. So while the zoom is investigating one thing, the fixed channel is still recording everywhere else. Smart linkage (manual tracking, auto-tracking, tracking takeover, track in turn) lets the fixed channel spot movement and hand the target to the PTZ to follow.

Power is the part worth understanding. The panel is 80 W polycrystalline; the battery pack is 360 Wh across four 90 Wh lithium cells, rated for more than 500 charge cycles. The camera draws about 8.7 W in typical use with 4G active, 7.7 W on standby and 100 mW asleep. In a British winter the daylight is the constraint, not the battery — tell us the site and how much you need it recording and we will work through whether the numbers stack up before you buy.

• A 4G SIM on a data tariff sized for the streaming you intend — this is the running cost people forget
• A south-facing, unshaded position for the panel. Shade on part of a panel costs more output than people expect

Frequently asked questions

Will it really run through a British winter?

That depends entirely on the site and how hard you work it. The battery holds 360 Wh and the camera draws about 8.7 W with 4G active, so the pack alone covers a couple of days of continuous operation — but in December an 80 W panel in the Midlands may only harvest a fraction of its rating on an overcast day. Continuous live streaming is the worst case; event-triggered recording with the camera asleep between events is far more forgiving. Tell us the usage pattern and we will go through the arithmetic with you rather than let you find out in January.

What does it cost to run?

The power is free once it is up. The 4G data is not — and a PTZ streaming 4 MP continuously will get through a lot of it. Most people run a low-bitrate sub-stream for live view and pull the full-quality footage from the SD card only when they need it.

Does it need a SIM, and do you supply one?

It needs a SIM and we do not supply them. Any UK data SIM with decent coverage at the site will do — check the signal at the exact spot before you commit, because a bar of difference matters more than the tariff.

What does dual-channel give me here?

The fixed wide channel records the whole scene continuously while the 32× PTZ investigates one thing. On a remote site where nobody is watching live, that is the difference between having evidence of what happened and having a close-up of the wrong corner.

Can I use it wired instead?

Yes. It has a standard RJ45 port, so on a site that later gets mains and network you can run it as a normal IP camera and keep the solar kit as backup. Plenty of people buy it for a temporary compound and redeploy it that way.
