The DS-2ST5C425MWG-EW/26 is a dual-channel PTZ built for corrosive environments: one fixed 190° panoramic camera that records continuously, and one 25× zoom PTZ in the same housing. While the zoom is pointed at one thing, the panoramic channel is still recording everywhere else — which is the whole argument for a TandemVu camera.

What separates this one from the standard 25× models is the housing. It is moulded from PA with 50% glass fibre and rated NEMA 4X and C5M — C5M being the marine corrosivity category, for coastal and offshore atmospheres with high salinity. That is the specification you want for a harbour, a dock, a coastal site, a water treatment works or anywhere with regular chemical washdown. On an inland site it is money you do not need to spend.

The panoramic channel is 3680 × 1656 with white light to 30 m; the PTZ channel is 2688 × 1520 with IR to 150 m and 140 dB WDR. Smart linkage (tracking takeover, linked tracking capture) hands a detected target from the panoramic channel to the PTZ. One cable, one IP address, one licence on the recorder.

Frequently asked questions

What does C5M actually mean?

It is the corrosivity category for marine atmospheres — high salinity, coastal and offshore. Together with NEMA 4X it says the housing is specified to survive salt air and washdown rather than just rain. If your site is inland and does not get chemical washdown, a standard TandemVu PTZ does the same surveillance job for less.

Is it explosion-proof?

No. It is the anti-corrosion model and Hikvision publishes no ATEX or IECEx rating for it, so it must not be specified for a hazardous area. The explosion-proof unit in the range is the DS-2DY9236I-CWX.

What does dual-channel give me?

Two cameras in one housing on one cable. The 190° panoramic channel records the whole scene continuously, so you still have evidence of everything that happened while the PTZ was zoomed in elsewhere. On a single-lens PTZ, that footage simply does not exist.

Does it use two channels on my recorder?

Yes. Budget two channels and the bandwidth for both streams — and note the panoramic channel is the higher resolution of the two.

How far does it see at night?

Hikvision quotes IR to 150 m on the PTZ channel and white light to 30 m on the panoramic channel. That is the illumination range, not the identification range.
