DS-3E0505-O — 5-Port Gigabit Switch, Unmanaged
The DS-3E0505-O is a 5-port Gigabit switch with no PoE. It is unmanaged and plug-and-play — nothing to configure. It is a small desk or wall-mounted unit.
No PoE means every device you connect needs its own power. That makes it the right switch for PCs, a NAS, a recorder's own uplink or anything already powered locally — and the wrong one for cameras, which is what the PoE switches range is for.

Frequently asked questions
Does it power cameras?
No. There is no PoE on this model, so every connected device needs its own supply. For cameras, intercoms or access points, choose from PoE switches instead.
What is it for, then?
Connecting things that already have power: PCs, a NAS, a printer, the uplink from a recorder, or linking two parts of a network together. On a CCTV job it usually sits alongside a PoE switch rather than replacing one.
Do I need to configure it?
No. It is unmanaged — plug it in and it works. There is no web interface and nothing to set up.
Is Gigabit necessary?
For anything carrying multiple camera streams or NVR playback, yes. 100 Mbps is only adequate for a handful of lower-resolution cameras, and it becomes the bottleneck the moment someone reviews footage while the system is still recording.
