The DS-KD-AL8 is not a fascia module — it is a compact 62.2 × 55 × 18 mm box that mounts behind the panel or in the riser and gives the KD8 door station eight alarm inputs. Typical uses are a door-forced contact on the entrance, a tamper on the panel enclosure, or a panic button in a lobby, all reported through the intercom system to the indoor stations and management software. It sits on the same RS-485 / 12 VDC modular bus as the fascia modules and can be cascaded, the datasheet quoting under 6 W for a full 20-module chain.

Hikvision's KD8 modular door station is built from a main unit (camera, microphone, speaker and one call button) plus sub-modules that clip into a common frame: nametag buttons, card reader, keypad, display, indicator and induction loop. Modules connect to the main unit over RS-485 and take their 12 VDC from it, so a panel for a block of flats is specified module by module. Inputs and addressing

Eight alarm inputs, an 8-bit DIP switch to set the module address on the bus, and a 12 VDC output of up to 4 W to power the connected sensors so they need no separate supply.

On the modular bus

Two modular connection interfaces carry RS-485 and 12 VDC in and out, so the module can sit between other KD8 modules or at the end of the chain. It is surface-mounted rather than frame-mounted.
