Hikvision UK groups its video intercom range into the IP Series (marketed as TalkVu, split into Value, Pro and Ultra Series), the 2-Wire Series (2-Wire HD and 2-Wire IP), Kits and Video Intercom Accessories. Hikvision IP Series (TalkVu) — IP video intercom over the network

Hikvision's current-generation IP video intercom — the IP Series, sold in the UK under the TalkVu name — runs over a standard network. Most of the models we stock sit in Hikvision's Pro Series (the DS-KV6113 and DS-KV6114 villa stations, the DS-KD8003 and DS-KD8005 modular main units, the DS-KH6320 and DS-KH8350 indoor stations); the face recognition door stations, the Android indoor stations such as the DS-KH9510 and DS-KH9570, and the DS-KM9503 master station are Ultra Series. The door station and indoor stations each take an RJ45 connection and are powered by PoE (802.3af) or 12 VDC, and they are set up with the iVMS-4200 client or the Hik-Connect app. Calls ring the indoor stations and, with Hik-Connect, the residents' phones, so a delivery can be answered and the door released from anywhere. Because it is IP, the KD8 door stations publish RTSP/ONVIF streams that a Hikvision recorder can record, the system integrates with Hikvision access control, and it scales from a single house to a development: the DS-KD8005-IME1 main unit alone supports 1,000 linked indoor stations and 99 sub door stations.

Hikvision IP Series (TalkVu) — how a network video intercom is wired

Pro Series villa door stations — houses, gates and small offices

A villa door station is a one-piece outdoor unit with camera, microphone, speaker, one to four call buttons and one or two lock relays. The DS-KV6113 series (2 MP, PoE, IP65, wired or Wi-Fi) is the standard house unit; the DS-KV6114 / KV6124 add a 4 MP camera, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth unlock from a phone and, on the KV6124, a PIN keypad. The DS-KV8113 / 8213 / 8413 are the metal, IK08 vandal-resistant versions with one, two or four buttons for shared entrances, and the TalkVu DS-KV8114 range adds face recognition, QR-code and card entry. For a plain doorbell-style unit there is the vandal-resistant DS-KB8113-IME1.

Pro Series KD8 modular door station — blocks of flats

The KD8 modular door station is Hikvision's apartment system. A main unit carries the camera, microphone, speaker and one call button (or none, on the /NS); sub-modules clip into a common frame — 6- or 12-button nametag modules, a keypad, a card reader, a touch-screen directory, an indicator, an induction loop for hearing aids and an 8-way alarm input — all powered and addressed over RS-485 from the main unit, so a panel for a 40-flat block is specified module by module with no extra wiring. Each flat gets an indoor station and/or Hik-Connect on a phone. Stainless-steel (/S) versions of the main units, modules and rain shields are listed for panels specified in stainless.

Main units — the DS-KD8005-IME1 (5 MP, 134° camera, 1,000 indoor stations / 99 sub door stations) is the current flagship; the DS-KD8003-IME1(B) (2 MP, 146° camera, 500 indoor stations / 16 sub door stations) is the unit most existing KD8 installations use.

Ultra Series face recognition door stations

Hikvision's Ultra Series door stations add face recognition. For gated developments and offices, the DS-KD9203-ME6 (4.3" screen, 5,000 faces) and DS-KD9633-WBE6 (10.1" screen, dual cameras, 10,000 faces) combine a door station with face-recognition entry.

Indoor stations — Pro Series, Ultra Series and all-in-one

Every IP door station pairs with a Hikvision indoor station (Pro Series for the DS-KH6320 and DS-KH8350 families, Ultra Series for the Android DS-KH9510 and DS-KH9570, and the DS-KC9570 all-in-one smart-home panel): a wall-mounted touch screen that shows the caller, opens the door, and can call other stations or the concierge. Choose by screen size (4.3", 7" or 10.1"), by wired-only or Wi-Fi, and by feature set — the DS-KH8380-WTE1 adds four relays and microSD snapshot storage; the DS-KH93xx / 95xx run Android with a higher-resolution IPS display; the DS-KC9570 is a smart-home control panel with video intercom built in. How to read it. Every station in the table answers the same door stations and runs the same Hik-Connect app, so the choice is practical: 4.3" for a small flat or a second station in a bedroom, 7" as the default, 10.1" where the station doubles as a concierge or reception screen. IPS panels (KH8350, KH8381, KH9510, KH9570) keep colour and contrast at an angle, which matters on a hallway wall. Wi-Fi models save running a data cable to the station but still need 12 VDC or PoE for power. Alarm inputs let the station take door contacts or PIRs so it doubles as a small alarm keypad; the KH8380 and KH8381 also give 12 VDC out for a sensor. If two flats need stations on one drop, every model supports linked extensions — the first station is the main one and the others are extensions.

Hikvision 2-Wire Series — 2-Wire HD and 2-Wire IP

Hikvision's 2-wire video intercom carries video, audio, data and power over a single unshielded pair, so it is the range for replacing an old audio or video entry system without recabling: the existing pair from the panel to each flat is reused, and a distributor near the panel splits it. There are two current families and they are not interchangeable with each other or with the IP range:

2-wire HD (EY series) — 48 VDC bus, DS-KAD7060EY distributor, DS-KD7003EY-IME2 modular door station, DS-KH7300EY indoor stations. The newer of the two.
2-wire IP (Y series) — 24 VDC bus, DS-KAD706Y distributor with RJ45 uplink, DS-KD8003Y-IME2 door station, DS-KH6320Y-WTE2 indoor station.

Both give a full-colour 2 MP picture, and the Wi-Fi indoor stations (or the distributor's network uplink) bring Hik-Connect app answering to a 2-wire system. We hold the first-generation 2-wire parts (DS-KIS701, DS-KD8003-IME2, DS-KAD706) for extending or repairing systems already installed. Hikvision sells through authorised partners, and we supply it as a trade product: prices are not published on this page. What determines the cost of a Hikvision intercom system is simple: the number of entrances (one door station each), the number of flats (one indoor station each, or app-only), and whether the building needs the KD8 modular panel or a single villa station. Compatibility rules we check before we sell

Stay within one family. IP, 2-wire HD (EY) and 2-wire IP (Y) door stations, distributors and indoor stations are separate systems. We will not sell a mixed set without confirming it with you.
Adding to an existing system? Tell us the model on the wall. First-generation 2-wire, second-generation IP and the new TalkVu units have different capabilities; we check the datasheets rather than assume.
Stainless (/S) parts match the stainless main unit; acrylic parts match the standard one. Mixing works electrically but not visually.
Power. IP units take PoE or 12 VDC; the 2-wire HD bus is 48 VDC from the DS-KAD7060EY (DS-KAW150-4N supply); the 2-wire IP bus is 24 VDC from the DS-KAD706Y.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Hikvision video intercom cost?

Hikvision is a trade product, so we do not publish prices on this page. Trade account holders see pricing when logged in; everyone else can call or email us with the number of doors and flats for a same-day quotation. The cost is driven by three things: door stations (one per entrance), indoor stations (one per flat, or app-only) and, for blocks of flats, the number of KD8 modules in the panel.

Can I answer the door on my phone?

Yes. Hikvision IP and 2-wire systems call the Hik-Connect app as well as the indoor station, so you can see the visitor, talk and release the door remotely.

IP or 2-wire — which should I choose?

New build or PoE available: IP. Replacing an old intercom in a building with an existing two-core cable to each flat: 2-wire HD (or 2-wire IP), which reuses that cable. Both give colour video and app answering.

What is the difference between the DS-KD8003-IME1 and DS-KD8005-IME1?

Camera and capacity. The KD8005 has a 5 MP camera and supports 1,000 indoor stations and 99 sub door stations; the KD8003 is 2 MP with 500 and 16. Both use the same KD8 modules and frames.

How many flats can one Hikvision panel serve?

A KD8 main unit takes nametag modules of 6 or 12 buttons each, chained in the frame, or a keypad / touch-display directory for larger blocks; the system limit is 500 (KD8003) or 1,000 (KD8005) indoor stations.

Do I need a PoE switch?

IP door stations and indoor stations accept PoE (802.3af) or a local 12 VDC supply. A small PoE switch is the usual choice because it powers and networks each unit with one cable.

Will it work with my Hikvision CCTV recorder?

The KD8 modular door stations publish RTSP/ONVIF streams and can be added to a Hikvision NVR as a camera channel, so entrance video is recorded alongside your CCTV. Ask us about a specific villa model.

Does Hikvision make an intercom for a gate?

Yes — the villa door stations (DS-KV6113, KV6114, KV8113) with a rain shield are the gate units; Wi-Fi versions avoid running data cable to the gate. The indoor station or Hik-Connect app releases the gate lock through the station's relay.
