Hikvision DS-KAD706Y-S — 2-wire IP sub distributor

The DS-KAD706Y-S is the second distributor type in Hikvision's 2-wire IP (Y series) range. It has the same eight two-wire ports and RJ45 network port as the DS-KAD706Y, but Hikvision's datasheet specifies its six device ports as without power. It is used alongside the DS-KAD706Y when a system grows beyond one distributor.

Hikvision's current 2-wire range comes in two families that use different buses: the 2-wire IP (Y) series and the 2-wire HD (EY) series. Distributors, door stations and indoor stations are designed to be used within their own family. How it differs from the DS-KAD706Y

Port for port the two look alike: two cascade ports, six device ports, one RJ45, 24 VDC in, eight signal LEDs. The distinction the datasheet draws is that the -S device ports carry signal without supplying power. That makes it the extension unit rather than the primary — it belongs in a system that already has a DS-KAD706Y.
