Hikvision DS-KD8003Y-IME2 — 2-wire IP modular door station

The DS-KD8003Y-IME2 is the Y-series version of Hikvision's best-known modular door station. It keeps the 2 MP wide-angle camera, IR illumination, two-way audio and modular expansion of the IP original, but connects over a single two-core cable and is powered by a DS-KAD706Y (or KAD704Y) distributor — so an existing intercom cable can carry a modern IP door entry system.

Hikvision's current 2-wire range comes in two families that use different buses: the 2-wire IP (Y) series and the 2-wire HD (EY) series. Distributors, door stations and indoor stations are designed to be used within their own family. Camera and audio

A 146° horizontal field of view is wide even by door-station standards: it covers a visitor standing well to one side and the ground in front of the door. WDR handles backlighting, the IR light reaches 3 m after dark, and video is encoded in H.265, H.264 or MJPEG. The microphone and speaker are built in with noise suppression and echo cancellation, and the audio codec list (G.711, Opus, AAC-LD/LC, G.726, G.722.1) means clean sound to the indoor station and to the Hik-Connect app.

Door control and inputs

Two lock relays, each rated to 30 VDC 2 A, so the panel can control two doors or a door and a gate. Four alarm inputs are pre-assigned as two exit buttons and two door contacts, and a tamper switch reports removal. One RS-485 port carries Hikvision sub-modules — extra call buttons, a keypad, a card reader — off the single call button on the main unit.

Capacity and standards

Up to 500 linked indoor stations, 16 sub door stations and 2000 users cover a substantial block. Protocols are TCP/IP, RTSP, IPv6 and ONVIF, so the door camera can also be pulled into an NVR or VMS. The platform is embedded Linux with 256 MB RAM and 32 MB ROM and a 36-language interface.

Outdoor build

IP65 rated, -40 °C to 60 °C, surface or flush mounting, 100 × 98 × 42 mm, and only ≤ 4 W drawn from the bus. There is no separate network port and no Wi-Fi: the two-wire interface carries everything.

Y-series, not first generation

Frequently asked questions

Which distributor powers it?

A KAD704Y or KAD706Y series distributor, per the datasheet — we list the DS-KAD706Y. It draws ≤ 4 W.

Is this the same as the DS-KD7003EY-IME2?

No. The DS-KD7003EY-IME2 is the 2-wire HD (EY series) door station on a 48 V bus. This DS-KD8003Y-IME2 is 2-wire IP (Y series). They use different distributors.

Can it release two doors?

Yes — two lock relays, each rated to 30 VDC, 2 A.

Can I add more call buttons?

Yes. The main unit has one button; additional buttons, a keypad or a card reader are added as Hikvision sub-modules over the RS-485 port.

Does it work with Hik-Connect?

The Y-series joins the IP network through the DS-KAD706Y's RJ45 port, which is what enables Hik-Connect app forwarding for the system.
