Hikvision DS-KAD706Y — 6-port 2-wire IP intercom distributor

The DS-KAD706Y is the distributor the Y-series datasheets refer to: both the DS-KD8003Y-IME2 door station and the DS-KH6320Y-WTE2 indoor station state that they are powered by a KAD704Y or KAD706Y series distributor. It takes 24 VDC, feeds six two-wire device ports, and bridges the whole 2-wire system onto the IP network through its RJ45 port.

Hikvision's current 2-wire range comes in two families that use different buses: the 2-wire IP (Y) series and the 2-wire HD (EY) series. Distributors, door stations and indoor stations are designed to be used within their own family. What it does

Each of the six device ports carries power and IP intercom traffic down an ordinary two-core cable to one station. The RJ45 port is what makes this the IP flavour of 2-wire: the system joins the site network, so Hik-Connect app forwarding, remote management and network cameras on the indoor stations all work over the existing cabling. Two cascade ports extend the system with a further distributor.

Channel ratings

The datasheet rates CH1 to CH5 at under 6 W each and CH6 at under 16 W. Put the door station — the hungriest device — on CH6 and the indoor stations on CH1–CH5. Eight signal indicators and a power indicator show which ports are live.

Not the same as the DS-KAD706

We also list the first-generation DS-KAD706. The Y suffix marks the current 2-wire IP generation; the two are different products with different companions. Order the DS-KAD706Y for a system built on DS-KD8003Y / DS-KH6320Y stations.

Yes — both datasheets specify power from a KAD704Y or KAD706Y series distributor.

What is the difference from the DS-KAD7060EY?

The DS-KAD7060EY is the 2-wire HD (EY series) distributor on 48 VDC. This DS-KAD706Y is the 2-wire IP (Y series) distributor on 24 VDC with an RJ45 network port. They belong to different families.

How many stations can it feed?

Six device ports, each serving one two-wire run. Use the cascade ports and a further distributor for more.

Does it need a network connection?

The RJ45 port connects the 2-wire system to the IP network for app forwarding, remote access and network cameras. The intercom itself runs over the two-wire ports.

Are the dimensions published?

Hikvision's datasheet for this model does not list dimensions, so we have not stated them. Ask us if you need the physical size for an enclosure.
