Hikvision DS-KD-TDM — 4" touch display module with Mifare reader for the KD8 door station

The DS-KD-TDM replaces rows of nametag buttons with a screen. On a KD8 panel it gives visitors a 4" IPS touch display for calling residents (Hikvision's page publishes the hardware specification — ask us for the current firmware's calling and directory functions), and it carries a Mifare (M1) reader so residents open the door with a card or fob — two modules' worth of function in one 100 × 100 mm position. Brightness is adjustable up to 500 cd/m² so it stays readable in sun, and the module is rated IP65 and IK08 for an exposed entrance. For large blocks it is the tidier alternative to several DS-KD-K12 button modules.

Hikvision's KD8 modular door station is built from a main unit (camera, microphone, speaker and one call button) plus sub-modules that clip into a common frame: nametag buttons, card reader, keypad, display, indicator and induction loop. Modules connect to the main unit over RS-485 and take their 12 VDC from it, so a panel for a block of flats is specified module by module. Tell us the flat count and the entrance and we will draw up the frame, modules and rain shield.

This is part of Hikvision's IP video intercom range: door stations, indoor stations and accessories that connect over a standard network (PoE or 12 VDC) and are configured with the iVMS-4200 client or the Hik-Connect app. IP-series products are designed to be used together within that range. Display

4" IPS panel at 480 × 480 with adjustable brightness to a maximum of 500 cd/m². A buzzer is fitted. The module runs Linux on 32 MB ROM and 128 MB RAM and lists an AP-mode wireless network.

Card reader

The integrated reader handles M1 (Mifare) cards at 13.56 MHz with a 2 cm read distance.

Fit, power and rating

Two two-wire cascading interfaces and an 8-bit DIP switch connect and address it on the KD8 modular bus; power is 12 VDC supplied by the main module, consumption ≤ 4 W. Flush or surface mounting in the frame at 100 × 100 × 35 mm. IP65 and IK08, -20 °C to 60 °C. The TF card slot is reserved.

It is designed to — visitors call residents from the 4" touch screen rather than a button per flat. Button modules remain an option where a physical button per flat is preferred.
