Hikvision DS-KAD7060EY — 6-channel 2-wire HD intercom distributor

The DS-KAD7060EY is the heart of a Hikvision 2-wire HD (EY series) intercom system. It takes a single 48 VDC supply and turns it into six two-wire channels, each of which carries power, video and audio down one ordinary two-core cable to a door station or a run of indoor stations. Two further ports (IN and OUT) let distributors be cascaded for larger buildings.

Hikvision's current 2-wire range comes in two families that use different buses: the 2-wire IP (Y) series and the 2-wire HD (EY) series. Distributors, door stations and indoor stations are designed to be used within their own family. Why the distributor matters

In a 2-wire system there is no PoE switch and no power supply at each flat. Everything hangs off the distributor: it powers the stations, carries the HD video from the door camera, and keeps each channel electrically separate so a fault on one flat's cable does not take down the block. Sizing the system starts here — count the channels you need, add the cascade unit if you need more than six, and choose the door station and indoor stations from the same EY family.

Channels and power budget

Six device channels, CH1 to CH6. The datasheet rates CH1 and CH2 at under 15 W each and CH3 to CH6 at under 110 W combined, so the higher-draw items — the door station, or a channel feeding several indoor stations through a DS-KAD7061EY splitter — should go on the channels with the headroom. Eight signal LEDs and a power LED show at a glance which channels are live.

Growing beyond six channels

For more channels, the DS-KAD7060EY-S is the cascade unit: its CH1–CH6 ports take DS-KAD7060EY distributors, and its own IN/OUT ports chain further -S units, so a multi-storey block is built from a tree of distributors rather than one giant hub.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the DS-KAD706Y?

No. The DS-KAD706Y is the distributor for the 2-wire IP (Y series) family and runs on 24 VDC. This DS-KAD7060EY is the 2-wire HD (EY series) distributor on 48 VDC. Choose the family first, then the distributor to match.

How many indoor stations can it feed?

Six channels, each carrying one two-wire run. A single channel can serve several indoor stations in one flat via the DS-KAD7061EY splitter, so the answer depends on how you lay the system out — tell us the building and we will draw it up.

Does it need a network connection?

The datasheet lists no network interface on this unit. It distributes power and 2-wire HD signal; the door station handles the intercom logic.

Can I mount it on a wall?

It is designed for DIN-rail installation, so it sits in an enclosure or consumer-unit-style box. Wall mounting is via the rail.

What powers it?

A 48 VDC supply into the power input. The datasheet gives the per-channel consumption (CH1–CH2 under 15 W, CH3–CH6 under 110 W combined) so the PSU can be sized to the channels in use.
