The EM (125 kHz) card reader sub-module for Hikvision's KD8 modular door station. Residents touch an EM fob or card to open the door instead of waiting to be let in; the module clips into the frame beside the main unit and is powered and controlled over RS-485.
The DS-KD-E adds proximity-card entry to a KD8 modular door station. It is the EM reader in the module range (Hikvision's page is titled "EM Card Reader Module"), sized to the standard 98.5 × 100 mm module footprint so it drops into the same frame as the nametag and indicator modules. Cards are enrolled and managed on the main unit through iVMS-4200, and the reader itself needs no separate power or network.
Hikvision's KD8 modular door station is built from a main unit (camera, microphone, speaker and one call button) plus sub-modules that clip into a common frame: nametag buttons, card reader, keypad, display, indicator and induction loop. Modules connect to the main unit over RS-485 and take their 12 VDC from it, so a panel for a block of flats is specified module by module. Tell us the flat count and the entrance and we will draw up the frame, modules and rain shield.
This is part of Hikvision's IP video intercom range: door stations, indoor stations and accessories that connect over a standard network (PoE or 12 VDC) and are configured with the iVMS-4200 client or the Hik-Connect app. IP-series products are designed to be used together within that range. If you are adding to an existing system, tell us what is installed and we will confirm what fits before you order.
Every KD8 sub-module shares the 98.5 × 100 × 33.7 mm format and connects to the main unit — or to the previous module — over RS-485, taking 12 VDC from the same connection. The DS-KD-E is therefore a two-cable addition inside the frame: no PSU, no network drop, no configuration beyond enrolling the cards.
IP65 sealing and a -40 °C to 55 °C operating range match the main unit, so the finished panel is weather-rated as a whole. Consumption is ≤ 2 W.
This module reads EM-format cards and fobs. If your residents already hold Mifare (M1) credentials, choose a Mifare reader module instead — the DS-KD-TDM touch display module includes an M1 reader. Tell us the credential type and we will match the module.

EM-format cards and fobs — Hikvision titles the page "EM Card Reader Module". For Mifare (M1) credentials use a Mifare module such as the DS-KD-TDM.
No — it takes 12 VDC and RS-485 from the KD8 main unit through the module cable; consumption is 2 W or less.
IP65, -40 °C to 55 °C, the same as the main unit.
Hikvision's KD8 modular door stations — the DS-KD8005-IME1 and the DS-KD8003-IME1 series. Confirm the frame size with us for the module count you need.
On the main unit via iVMS-4200 (or the local menu where available); the module itself has no settings.
