Texecom Keypads Guide: LCD, LCDL, LCDP, LCDLP, FMK, SMK and Wireless

Texecom keypads are named by what they add: LCD is the basic display keypad, L means a large display, P means a built-in proximity reader, and LCDLP combines both. On top of that, the Premier Elite LCDLP comes in flush mount (FMK) and surface mount (SMK) designer finishes, there is a wireless LCDLP-W for Ricochet systems, and Veritas panels use their own LED and LCD keypads.

Premier LCD, LCDL and LCDP: the standard keypads

These white surface-mount keypads cover most everyday installations. The Texecom Premier LCD keypad (DBA-0001) has two DP or EOL zone inputs and one programmable output. The Premier LCDL large display keypad (DBB-0001) adds a larger LCD and a speaker drive with programmable volume. The Premier LCDP proximity keypad (DBC-0001) adds a prox reader so users can arm and disarm with a tag instead of a code.

Zone inputs on the keypad are handy for wiring a nearby door contact back through the keypad rather than to the panel.

Premier Elite LCDLP: large display with prox

The Premier Elite LCDLP is the most capable standard Texecom keypad. Texecom lists a 32 character large blue LCD, prox tag arming and disarming, two DP or EOL zones, one programmable output, a programmable information LED, adjustable backlighting and a built-in piezo sounder on a 4-wire connection. It is CPNI accredited and listed to PD6662:2017, EN50131-1 and EN50131-3 Grade 3 Class II. View the Premier Elite LCDLP proximity keypad in white (DBD-0168).

An earlier Premier LCDLP with large green display (DBD-0002) is also listed for Premier panels.

FMK and SMK designer keypads

Choose an FMK or SMK when the keypad needs to match high-end interiors. The FMK is flush mounted into the wall; the SMK is surface mounted with a metal finish. Both have a large blue 32 character LCD, touchtone backlit keys, an integral prox reader, two zone inputs, one programmable output and an integral speaker, and are listed to EN50131-3 Grade 3 Class II with CPNI accreditation.

Finishes stocked include gunmetal, black, satin chrome, polished chrome, brass and diamond white, depending on version. Examples:

LCDLP-W: the wireless Texecom keypad

The LCDLP-W is the right choice when you cannot run cable to the keypad position. It uses Ricochet mesh and Texecom describes it as a fully functional keypad, "not just an arming station", with wired-equivalent speed. It includes an integral prox reader for Texecom RFID tags and is listed to EN50131-1, EN50131-3, EN50131-5-3 and PD6662 Grade 2 Class II. Battery life is quoted as five years with typical use, using four AA lithium batteries (supplied), and it needs V3.1 or higher wireless receivers. View the Ricochet Premier Elite LCDLP-W wireless keypad (GCE-0001), and read Texecom Ricochet wireless explained for how the mesh works.

Veritas keypads

Veritas panels use their own keypads, not the Premier range. The Veritas LED remote keypad (DCA-0001) works with any Veritas panel, shows eight zones by LED and is listed to PD6662:2010 Grade 2 Class II. The Veritas Excel LCD remote keypad (DCB-0001) has a 32 character green LCD with programmable banner, user and zone text and direct access to the 250-event log, for Veritas Excel and R8 Plus panels.
