TP-LINK OMADA - ES206XPP-M2 - 5-Port 2.5G Easy Managed Switch with 4-Port PoE++ and 10G SFP+

ES206XPP-M2 — TP-Link Omada 5-Port 2.5G Easy Managed Switch with 4-Port PoE++ and 10G SFP+

The TP-Link Omada ES206XPP-M2 is an easy managed switch with 5 2.5 Gbps RJ45 ports, 4 of them PoE (120 W budget), plus one 10 Gbps SFP+ slot, in a desktop steel case that can also be wall mounted. It can be set up on its own through a web interface or adopted into an Omada SDN controller for central management.

What the ES206XPP-M2 is for

The ES206XPP-M2 is a PoE switch for powering and connecting IP cameras, Wi-Fi access points and VoIP phones over a single network cable. TP-Link list a PoE budget of 120 W shared across its 4 PoE ports, using 802.3af/at/bt PoE++, with up to 90 W on any one port.

For CCTV, a typical fixed IP camera draws around 7 W or less, so the ES206XPP-M2 can power roughly 4 cameras at once (check each camera's datasheet; PTZ and heated cameras draw more). For larger runs, see our full range of network switches.

What you will need

You need network cable for each device. Total PoE draw of all connected devices must stay within the 120 W budget. SFP modules for fibre uplinks are sold separately. For central management you need an Omada controller (hardware, software or cloud-based); it is not needed for standalone use.

Buying from Zenith Security Co.

We are a supplier, not an installer. We will go through the ES206XPP-M2 with you before you buy — the port count and speed against your devices and the PoE budget against your cameras or access points — and depending on your requirements and your area we can recommend a qualified trade installer. We have been operating since 2012 and you can visit our trade counter in Wolverhampton.

What is the PoE budget of the ES206XPP-M2 and how many IP cameras can it power?

TP-Link list a 120 W PoE budget across 4 PoE ports, up to 90 W per port. At around 7 W per typical fixed IP camera that is roughly 4 cameras; higher-draw PTZ or heated cameras reduce that number.

Which PoE standard does the ES206XPP-M2 support?

The PoE ports are 802.3af/at/bt compliant, so they power standard PoE (15.4 W), PoE+ (30 W) and PoE++ devices up to 90 W per port. They will not power 24 V passive PoE devices.

Is the ES206XPP-M2 managed or unmanaged?

It is an easy managed (smart) switch. It works out of the box, and through its web interface you can set VLANs, QoS, IGMP snooping, link aggregation and port mirroring. It sits between an unmanaged switch and TP-Link's fully managed Omada SG range.

Is the ES206XPP-M2 Omada compatible and does it need a controller?

Yes, it is part of the TP-Link Omada range. It does not need a controller to work, but adopting it into an Omada hardware, software or cloud-based controller adds central management, the Omada app and cloud access alongside your Omada access points and gateways.

Does the ES206XPP-M2 have SFP or uplink ports?

Yes: one 10 Gbps SFP+ slot.

Can the ES206XPP-M2 be rack mounted?

No. It is a desktop steel case that can also be wall mounted, not a rack unit.

What is the difference between the ES206XPP-M2 and the ES210XPP-M2?

The ES206XPP-M2 has 5 2.5 Gbps RJ45 ports, 4 of them PoE (120 W budget), plus one 10 Gbps SFP+ slot. The ES210XPP-M2 has 9 2.5 Gbps RJ45 ports, 8 of them PoE (200 W budget), plus one 10 Gbps RJ45 port and one 10 Gbps SFP+ slot.
