TP-LINK OMADA - ES208G - 8-Port Gigabit Easy Managed Switch

ES208G — TP-Link Omada 8-Port Gigabit Easy Managed Switch

The TP-Link Omada ES208G is an easy managed switch with 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports with no PoE output, in a desktop steel case that can also be wall mounted. It can be set up on its own through a web interface or adopted into an Omada SDN controller for central management.

What the ES208G is for

The ES208G is a Gigabit network switch for connecting PCs, NVRs, printers and access points in a small office, shop or home office. It gives no PoE, so powered devices need their own supply or a PoE injector.

If you need to power cameras or access points from the switch, the ES210GP adds PoE+ output. See also our PoE switches.

Key features

• 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports with no PoE output
• Easy managed: VLAN, IGMP snooping, QoS, link aggregation, port mirroring and loop prevention
• Central management, Omada app and cloud access when adopted by an Omada controller
• 16 Gbps switching capacity
• Fanless desktop steel case that can also be wall mounted

What you will need

You need network cable for each device. It gives no PoE, so cameras or access points need separate power. For central management you need an Omada controller (hardware, software or cloud-based); it is not needed for standalone use.

Buying from Zenith Security Co.

We are a supplier, not an installer. We will go through the ES208G with you before you buy — the port count and speed against your devices — and depending on your requirements and your area we can recommend a qualified trade installer. We have been operating since 2012 and you can visit our trade counter in Wolverhampton.

Does the ES208G supply PoE?

No. The ES208G has no PoE output. If you need PoE, the ES208GP is a PoE version.

Is the ES208G managed or unmanaged?

It is an easy managed (smart) switch. It works out of the box, and through its web interface you can set VLANs, QoS, IGMP snooping, link aggregation and port mirroring. It sits between an unmanaged switch and TP-Link's fully managed Omada SG range.

Is the ES208G Omada compatible and does it need a controller?

Yes, it is part of the TP-Link Omada range. It does not need a controller to work, but adopting it into an Omada hardware, software or cloud-based controller adds central management, the Omada app and cloud access alongside your Omada access points and gateways.

Does the ES208G have an SFP port?

No. All 8 ports are RJ45, so there is no fibre uplink.

Can the ES208G be rack mounted?

No. It is a desktop steel case that can also be wall mounted, not a rack unit.

What is the difference between the ES208G and the ES208GP?

The ES208G has 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports with no PoE output. The ES208GP has 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports, 8 of them PoE (64 W budget).
