RE200 — TP-Link AC750 Dual Band Wi-Fi Range Extender

The TP-Link RE200 is an AC750 dual-band Wi-Fi range extender that plugs into a UK wall socket and boosts your existing Wi-Fi at up to 433 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. It has three internal antennas, a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port, a smart signal light to help with placement, and it supports TP-Link OneMesh.

What the RE200 is for

It is the quick fix for a bedroom, kitchen or garden room where the router's Wi-Fi is weak. Plug it in roughly halfway between the router and the dead spot, press the router's WPS button and the RE button, and the light tells you whether the position is good or too far.

The Ethernet port can connect a wired device such as a smart TV, console or IP camera. Paired with a OneMesh router, it creates a single mesh network. For thick walls, a powerline Wi-Fi kit like the TL-WPA4220 KIT may work better; browse more in data networking.

What Wi-Fi standard does the TP-Link RE200 use?

Dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) on 5 GHz at 433 Mbps plus 802.11n on 2.4 GHz at 300 Mbps, which TP-Link sell as AC750.

Does the RE200 support OneMesh?

Yes. With a TP-Link OneMesh router it forms one mesh network with a single Wi-Fi name and seamless roaming.

Will it work with any router?

Yes, it extends any standard Wi-Fi router, including ISP routers. OneMesh features need a OneMesh TP-Link router.

Where should I put the range extender?

About halfway between the router and the dead spot, where it still has a good signal. The smart signal light shows whether it is too far away.

Can I connect a wired device?

Yes. The 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port connects a TV, console or other wired device. In Access Point mode it can also turn a wired connection into Wi-Fi.

RE200 or TL-WA850RE?

The RE200 is dual band (5 GHz and 2.4 GHz). The TL-WA850RE is a lower-cost 2.4 GHz-only 300 Mbps extender.
