TP-LINK OMADA - SM5220-1M - 10G SFP+ Direct Attach Cable, 1 m

SM5220-1M — 10G SFP+ Direct Attach Cable, 1 m

The TP-Link Omada SM5220-1M is a 1 m 10G SFP+ direct attach cable (DAC) with an SFP+ plug on each end, for linking two SFP+ ports in the same rack. It plugs into SFP+ slots on two switches, or a switch and a server, to link them directly.

What the SM5220-1M is for

A direct attach cable like the SM5220-1M is the simplest way to link two SFP+ ports that sit close together, for example stacking an Omada network switch to a second switch, a server or a storage unit in the same cabinet.

The SM5220-1M is a fixed cable with a plug on each end, so there is no separate module or fibre to buy.

Key features

• 10 Gbps SFP+ direct attach copper cable
• 1 m overall length (1,000 mm)
• SFP+ plug fitted at each end
• Silver-plated copper conductor

What you will need

You need a free SFP+ slot on each of the two devices you are linking. The cable has the plugs fitted, so nothing else is needed. See our data networking range for switches.

Buying from Zenith Security Co.

We are a supplier, not an installer. We will go through the SM5220-1M with you before you buy (the slot type on each device and the distance between them) and depending on your requirements and your area we can recommend a qualified trade installer. We have been operating since 2012 and you can visit our trade counter in Wolverhampton.

What cable does the SM5220-1M use?

TP-Link list it as a silver-plated copper direct attach cable with the SFP+ plugs fixed to each end.

How far can the SM5220-1M reach?

TP-Link quote a maximum cable length of 1 m. For 3 m, see the SM5220-3M.

Which TP-Link switches is the SM5220-1M compatible with?

It fits 10G SFP+ slots, for example the 10GE SFP+ slots on the Omada SG2210XMP-M2 switch. TP-Link publish an Omada compatibility list, or send us your switch model and we will check.

When should I use the SM5220-1M instead of fibre modules?

A DAC is the simple choice for short links in the same rack or cabinet, such as switch to switch or switch to server. For longer runs use SFP+ fibre modules such as the SM5110-SR.
