The TP-Link Omada SM5310-T is a 10GBASE-T copper SFP+ module with an RJ45 port: 10G up to 30 m on Cat6a, and 1G/2.5G/5G up to 100 m on Cat5e. It plugs into an SFP+ slot on a switch, router or media converter to add a copper link.

What the SM5310-T is for

An SFP+ module like the SM5310-T lets you choose the link type per port on an Omada network switch. Typical jobs are using a spare SFP+ slot as an extra copper port or uplink, or linking switches and servers in the same rack.

TP-Link list hot-swap support for the SM5310-T, so it can be fitted or replaced without powering the switch down. The device at the other end of the cable is any RJ45 port running at a matching speed.

TP-Link quote a maximum cable length of 30 m at 10GBASE-T over Cat6a or above, 100 m at 1G/2.5G/5G over Cat5e or above.

Which TP-Link switches is the SM5310-T compatible with?

It fits a 10G SFP+ slot, for example the 10GE SFP+ slots on the Omada SG2210XMP-M2 switch, or the SFP+ slot on the MC420L media converter. TP-Link publish an Omada compatibility list, or send us your switch model and we will check.

Is the SM5310-T hot-swappable?

Yes. TP-Link list it as hot-swappable.

Can the SM5310-T run 10G over 100 m?

No. TP-Link list 10GBASE-T up to 30 m on Cat6a or above. 100 m applies to 1G, 2.5G and 5G on Cat5e or above.
