What the TL-PA7017P KIT is for

It is the straightforward way to get a wired gigabit connection to a smart TV, games console, home office PC or CCTV recorder in a room the router cannot reach, using the wiring already in the walls. The front socket lets you plug the TV or an extension lead into the adapter itself.

What you will need

A router with a spare LAN port and two wall sockets on the same electrical installation. Plug the adapters directly into the wall; plug any extension lead into the adapter's own socket.

How fast is the TP-Link TL-PA7017P KIT?

AV1000 is a physical rate of up to 1000 Mbps. TP-Link state that actual throughput varies with network conditions, wiring and interference, so real speeds are lower; the gigabit port ensures the adapter does not cap a wired device at 100 Mbps.

Does the TL-PA7017P have a UK pass-through socket?

Yes, an integrated 13 A UK socket with a built-in noise filter, so you can still power the TV or other appliances from the same outlet.

Will it pair with other powerline kits?

Yes. It supports HomePlug AV2 and HomePlug AV, so it works with other TP-Link powerline adapters such as the TL-PA7017 KIT. Each link runs at the speed of the slower adapter.

TL-PA7017P or TL-PA7027P?

They share the AV1000 rate and pass-through socket. The TL-PA7017P has one gigabit port per adapter; the TL-PA7027P has two, handy for a TV and console side by side.

Is it compatible with my router?

TP-Link say it works with any standard router. They note that routers with altered, open-source, non-standard or outdated firmware may not be compatible.
