TP-LINK - TL-SF1016D - 16-Port 10/100 Mbps Desktop Switch

TL-SF1016D — 16-Port 10/100 Mbps Desktop Switch

The TP-Link TL-SF1016D is a 16-port 10/100 Mbps unmanaged switch in a desktop case, with 16 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports. It is plug and play, with no PoE output, so it is a simple way to add wired ports to an office, shop or CCTV network.

What the TL-SF1016D is for

TP-Link make the TL-SF1016D as an unmanaged network switch: connect the cables and it works, with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX on every port, so there is nothing to configure. Each port runs at up to 100 Mbps, which suits PCs, printers, NVRs and other wired devices.

The TL-SF1016D does not supply PoE, so IP cameras and access points connected to it need their own power or a PoE injector. If you want to power cameras from the switch, look at our TP-Link PoE switches instead.

Key features

• 16× 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX
• Unmanaged, plug and play: no software or configuration needed
• Non-PoE data switch for wired devices
• Fanless for silent operation
• Compact desktop case
• IEEE 802.3x flow control and store-and-forward switching

What you will need

You need network cable for each device (Cat5e or above for 100 Mbps links) and a mains socket for the switch. It gives no PoE, so powered devices need a separate supply.

Buying from Zenith Security Co.

We are a supplier, not an installer. We will go through the TL-SF1016D with you before you buy (the number of ports you need, the port speed against your devices and how any cameras or access points will be powered) and depending on your requirements and your area we can recommend a qualified trade installer. We have been operating since 2012 and you can visit our trade counter in Wolverhampton.

Does the TL-SF1016D support PoE?

No. The TL-SF1016D is a non-PoE switch. Devices that need PoE must be powered separately, for example with a PoE injector, or you can choose a TP-Link PoE switch.

Is the TL-SF1016D managed, and does it need an Omada controller?

No. It is an unmanaged plug and play switch, so it has no web interface and does not need an Omada controller or any configuration.

How fast are the ports on the TL-SF1016D?

All 16 RJ45 ports are 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet. If you need a different speed or port count, see the TL-SF1024D.

Is the TL-SF1016D energy efficient?

TP-Link say its Green Technology saves up to 80% power, and list max power consumption of 3.23 W.

Can the TL-SF1016D be rack mounted?

No. The TL-SF1016D is a desktop switch. For a rack cabinet choose a rack-mountable model such as the TL-SG1016, TL-SG1024 or TL-SG1048.

Is the TL-SF1016D silent?

Yes. TP-Link list it as fanless, so it runs silently.
