TL-SL1218MP — TP-Link 16-Port 10/100 Mbps + 2-Port Gigabit Rackmount Switch with 16-Port PoE+
The TP-Link TL-SL1218MP is an unmanaged switch with 18 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports, 16 of them PoE (250 W budget), plus two Gigabit RJ45 ports and two Gigabit combo SFP slots, in a 1U 19-inch rack-mountable steel case. It is plug and play, so it works out of the box with no configuration.
What the TL-SL1218MP is for
The TL-SL1218MP is a PoE switch for powering and connecting IP cameras, Wi-Fi access points and VoIP phones over a single network cable. TP-Link list a PoE budget of 250 W shared across its 16 PoE ports, using 802.3af/at PoE+.
For CCTV, a typical fixed IP camera draws around 7 W or less, so the TL-SL1218MP can power roughly 16 cameras at once (check each camera's datasheet; PTZ and heated cameras draw more). TP-Link's Extend Mode allows PoE and data up to 250 m on the supported ports, at reduced speed, for cameras beyond the normal 100 m limit. For larger runs, see our full range of network switches.

What you will need
You need network cable for each device. Total PoE draw of all connected devices must stay within the 250 W budget. SFP modules for fibre uplinks are sold separately.
Buying from Zenith Security Co.
We are a supplier, not an installer. We will go through the TL-SL1218MP with you before you buy — the port count and speed against your devices and the PoE budget against your cameras or access points — and depending on your requirements and your area we can recommend a qualified trade installer. We have been operating since 2012 and you can visit our trade counter in Wolverhampton.
What is the PoE budget of the TL-SL1218MP and how many IP cameras can it power?
TP-Link list a 250 W PoE budget across 16 PoE ports. At around 7 W per typical fixed IP camera that is roughly 16 cameras; higher-draw PTZ or heated cameras reduce that number.
Which PoE standard does the TL-SL1218MP support?
The PoE ports are 802.3af/at compliant, so they power standard PoE (15.4 W) and PoE+ (30 W) devices. They will not power 24 V passive PoE devices.
Is the TL-SL1218MP managed or unmanaged?
Unmanaged. It is plug and play with no web interface or VLAN settings.
Does the TL-SL1218MP work with TP-Link Omada?
No, it cannot be adopted or managed by an Omada controller, though it will pass Omada traffic like any switch. If you want Omada management, look at the ES220GP easy managed switch.
Does the TL-SL1218MP have SFP or uplink ports?
Yes: two Gigabit RJ45 ports and two Gigabit combo SFP slots.
Can the TL-SL1218MP be rack mounted?
Yes. It has a 1U 19-inch rack-mountable steel case.
What is the difference between the TL-SL1218MP and the TL-SG1218MP?
The TL-SL1218MP has 18 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports, 16 of them PoE (250 W budget), plus two Gigabit RJ45 ports and two Gigabit combo SFP slots. The TL-SG1218MP has 18 Gigabit RJ45 ports, 16 of them PoE (250 W budget), plus two Gigabit combo SFP slots.
