Dahua HAC-HDBW2241R-Z - 2MP 1080p Starlight HDCVI IR Dome CCTV Camera

Dahua HAC-HDBW2241R-Z — 2MP 1080p Starlight HDCVI IR Night Vision Dome CCTV Camera

The Dahua HAC-HDBW2241R-Z (Dahua's datasheet calls it DH-HAC-HDBW2241R-Z) is a 2MP 1080p Starlight HDCVI IR dome CCTV security camera with a 2.7-13.5mm motorised lens, from Dahua's Pro Series. It is an HD analogue camera: it sends high-definition video over coaxial cable, so the existing coax of an analogue CCTV system can be reused. Infrared night vision reaches 30m, and the IP67 and IK10 housing suits indoor or outdoor use.

Also listed as DH-HAC-HDBW2241R-Z.

Key features

• Starlight low light camera with 120dB true WDR and advanced 3DNR, for usable video in low light and high contrast scenes.
• 1080P (1920 × 1080) at up to 30fps; HD and SD video output switchable, including HDCVI and CVBS.
• 2.7-13.5mm motorised lens (angle of view H 108.7° to 28.7°) with auto and manual focus control.
• Infrared night vision up to 30m (98 ft) with Smart IR.
• One audio interface for audio input.
• IP67 for water and dust; IK10 vandal resistance, which Dahua describes as the equivalent of 5 kg dropped from 40 cm.
• 12V DC with ±30% input voltage tolerance and a 4KV lightning rating.

Technical specification

How far it can see (Dahua DORI figures)

Works with

• Dahua PFA137 junction box
• Dahua PFB203W wall mount bracket
• Dahua PFA152-E pole mount bracket
• Dahua DH-PFA200W rain shade for dome cameras
• Dahua PFB200C in-ceiling mount bracket
• Dahua PFA106 adapter plate
• Dahua PFB220C ceiling mount bracket

What you will need

• A Dahua XVR recorder or another HDCVI-capable recorder. Penta-brid XVRs accept HDCVI, AHD, TVI, analogue and IP on the same box, so you can mix old and new cameras and upgrade in stages (see Dahua Penta-brid recorders explained).
• RG59 coax and 12V power to each camera. Pre-made shotgun cable carries both in one run.
• A multi-way 12V power supply for several cameras; the recorder does not power them.
• A surveillance-grade hard drive, sized for how long you need to keep footage.
• Signage. If your cameras capture anything beyond your boundary you are a data controller under UK GDPR and must display a notice.

Common questions

What does HDCVI mean?

HDCVI is Dahua's technology for sending high-definition video over coaxial cable, with two-way data between camera and recorder and audio on models that have it. Dahua's datasheet quotes up to 800m for 1080P video over coaxial cable and up to 300m over UTP cable, verified in its test laboratory. See Dahua HDCVI cameras explained.

What does Starlight mean on this camera?

Dahua lists this camera as Starlight: a high-performance sensor that captures more detail and accurate colour at night or in limited light. Its minimum illumination is 0.004 lux at F1.6, and 0 lux with the infrared on. See Dahua Starlight low-light cameras.

How far can the infrared night vision see?

Dahua lists infrared up to 30m (98 ft) with Smart IR. Its DORI figures above give 44m to detect a person at the wide end of the lens and 5m to identify one; at the tele end, 153m and 15m.

Does it record sound?

It has one audio interface for audio input. Whether sound is recorded depends on the recorder, so tell us your recorder model and we will confirm.

Is it weatherproof and vandal resistant?

It is rated IP67 against water and dust and IK10 for vandal resistance. Dahua lists an operating range of -30°C to +60°C.

Will this work with my existing recorder?

Only if it supports HDCVI. Most Dahua XVRs auto-detect the camera type per channel. Tell us your recorder model and we will confirm.

Do I need to run new cable?

Usually not. Dahua says an HDCVI system can upgrade an analogue system without replacing the existing coaxial cabling, so if the existing coax is sound it will carry the HD signal.

Is there a similar Starlight dome?

The HAC-HDBW2231R-Z is another 2MP Starlight HDCVI dome with a 2.7-13.5mm motorised zoom lens.
