The Grandstream GXW4216 is a high-density FXS gateway in the GXW4200 v2 series. Grandstream describes the series as a way to build a hybrid IP and analogue system that keeps existing analogue phones, fax machines and legacy PBX systems. The GXW4216 has 16 FXS ports (16 x RJ11 and 1 x 50-pin Telco connector), one 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 network port and a backlit 132x32 LCD, with 4 SIP server profiles per system and an independent SIP account per telephone port.

What you will need

A SIP IP PBX or VoIP service with one SIP account per analogue port you want to use, a Gigabit or Fast Ethernet network port, and cabling for the 16 x RJ11 and 1 x 50-pin Telco connector.

16, one per FXS port, each with its own SIP account.

Does it support fax?

Yes. Grandstream lists T.38 Group 3 fax relay up to 14.4 kbps with auto-switch to G.711 pass-through.

Can it be rack mounted?

Yes. It is 1U and Grandstream lists desktop and rack mounting with front brackets.

Will it work with my phone system?

It is a standard SIP device, so it works with SIP-based IP PBXs and VoIP services. Grandstream lists zero-configuration provisioning with its UCM series IP PBXs. Call us if you want us to check a particular system.
