The DS-2DF8C260I5XG1-ELW is a 2 MP IP PTZ speed dome with 60× optical zoom and laser illumination to 500 m. It runs over network cable to an NVR.

It pans 360° and tilts -20° to 90° with auto flip and smart pan-tilt correction, holds 300 presets and supports patrol and pattern scans, so it can run a tour unattended.

This is a specialist long-range camera. Laser illumination is tightly focused and follows the zoom, so it puts light where the lens is pointing rather than flooding the whole scene — which is why it reaches much further than IR. The trade-off is that it is 2 MP, not 4K: the design priority here is reach, not pixel count.

Frequently asked questions

What is laser illumination, and why does it reach further than IR?

The illuminator is a focused beam that narrows as the lens zooms in, so all the light lands on the part of the scene you are actually looking at. Conventional IR floods the whole field of view, so it runs out of usable range much sooner. That is how this camera gets to 500 m.

Why only 2 MP at this price?

Because the money is in the 60× lens and the laser, not the sensor. At 360 mm of focal length a 2 MP image of a subject 400 m away holds more useful detail than a wide-angle 4K image of the same scene. If you want resolution rather than reach, a 4K dome costs far less.

Will standard PoE power it?

No. It needs 36 V DC or 802.3bt (type 3, class 6) at up to 60 W. A standard 802.3af or 802.3at switch will not run it, and an undersized supply is the usual reason a PTZ resets when it moves — check the power row above before ordering.

Can it follow someone automatically?

Yes. Hikvision lists manual tracking and auto-tracking 3.0 for this model, so it will lock on to a moving person or vehicle and follow it.

Is this the right camera for my site?
