Hikvision DS-7208HUHI-K1 - 5MP TURBO HD 8 CHANNEL 1 SATA DVR

The Hikvision DS-7208HUHI-K1 is an 8-channel Turbo HD DVR (digital video recorder) in the 5MP class. It records HD analogue CCTV cameras on coax cable, and can also take IP cameras: 4-ch (up to 12-ch). It has one hard drive bay (up to 10 TB), plus audio over coax on all 8 channels and a 4K HDMI output. You can watch live and recorded video on a monitor or on your phone with the free Hik-Connect app.

Key features

• Camera inputs: 8 analogue (HDTVI 8MP/5MP/4MP/3MP/1080p30/1080p25/720p60/720p50/720p30/720p25; AHD 5MP/4MP/1080p25/1080p30/720p25/720p30; CVI 5MP/4MP/1080p25/1080p30/720p25/720p30; CVBS PAL/NTSC)
• Recording: Main stream (8MP Lite off): 8MP@8fps/5MP@12fps/3K@12fps/4MP@15fps/3MP@18fps; 1080p/720p/WD1/4CIF/VGA/CIF@25fps(P)/30fps(N). Sub-stream: WD1/4CIF/CIF@25fps(P)/30fps(N)
• Compression: H.265 Pro+/H.265 Pro/H.265/H.264+/H.264, which saves hard drive space compared with plain H.264
• Audio: 4-ch RCA (2.0 Vp-p, 1 KΩ) in, plus 8-ch via coaxial cable; 1-ch RCA (Linear, 1 KΩ) out
• Outputs: HDMI 1-ch up to 4K (3840×2160)/30Hz; VGA 1-ch up to 1920×1080/60Hz; HDMI/VGA simultaneous; CVBS 1-ch BNC
• IP cameras: 4-ch (up to 12-ch); Enhanced IP mode on: 8-ch (up to 16-ch), each up to 4 Mbps. The higher number uses Enhanced IP mode, which Hikvision says may conflict with the smart detection features.
• Smart detection: Line crossing/intrusion detection 2-ch; Enhanced VCA mode on: 8-ch, but this disables 2K/4K HDMI output and 4MP/5MP/8MP signal input. Enhanced IP mode may conflict with perimeter protection.

Which Hikvision DVR do I need?

How to read the model code: HQHI = 1080p/4MP-lite class, HUHI = 5MP class, HTHI = 8MP (4K) class. K1 = one hard drive bay, K2 = two. /P = power over coax. iDS…/4S(B) = AcuSense smart detection. More in our Hikvision model numbers explained guide.

What else do I need?

• A hard drive. This recorder takes one 3.5" SATA drive, up to 10 TB. See our CCTV hard drives, and use the CCTV storage calculator to work out how many days you will get.
• Cameras. HD analogue (Turbo HD) cameras on coax, see HD analogue cameras. Each camera needs 12V power, unless you choose a PoC recorder.
• A screen with HDMI or VGA, plus a network connection if you want to view on your phone with the Hik-Connect app.
