The TP-Link Omada SM5110-LR is a 10GBase-LR SFP+ transceiver for single-mode fibre, 1310 nm, LC duplex, up to 10 km. It plugs into an SFP+ slot on a switch, router or media converter to add a fibre link.

What the SM5110-LR is for

An SFP+ module like the SM5110-LR lets you choose the link type per port on an Omada network switch. Typical jobs are linking a switch in an outbuilding, a second floor or a CCTV cabinet back to the core switch, where a copper run would be too long.

TP-Link list DDM, hot-swap support and SFP-MSA compliance for the SM5110-LR, so it can be fitted or replaced without powering the switch down. Both ends of a link must use matching module types and the right cable.

Yes. TP-Link list it as hot-swappable, with DDM (digital diagnostic monitoring) and SFP-MSA compliance.

What is the difference between the SM5110-LR and SM5110-SR?

The SM5110-LR is for single-mode fibre up to 10 km. The SM5110-SR is for multi-mode fibre up to 300 m on OM3.
