The Dahua DHI-XVR5104H-4KL-X is a 4 channel digital video recorder from the Dahua Lite Series: a Penta-brid 4K CCTV DVR, also called an XVR or hybrid DVR. It is a Mini 1U desktop recorder with one SATA bay. Its 4 BNC inputs auto-detect HDCVI, AHD, TVI and CVBS cameras, and it also accepts IP cameras, each up to 8MP. Dahua lists the model on its UK site as XVR5104H-4KL-X.

Who is it for?
A DVR, or CCTV recorder, records cameras over coaxial cable. This multi-format recorder auto-detects each camera and also takes IP cameras, so an existing analogue system can be upgraded camera by camera rather than all at once.
Key features
- Smart H.265+/H.265 dual-stream video compression. Dahua states that H.265+ can reduce bit rate and storage requirements by up to 90% compared with H.264.

- Intelligent Video System (IVS) with tripwire and abandoned or missing object detection, face detection and Smart Search, which lets you draw a region during playback to find motion video.
- Smart fan that turns on and off with CPU temperature to reduce noise.
- 1 SATA port for a hard drive of up to 10TB, with HDMI output up to 3840 x 2160 and a VGA output.
- Works with iPhone, iPad and Android apps and follows ONVIF 16.12.

What cameras does the DHI-XVR5104H-4KL-X work with?

What resolution can it record?
The main stream records 4K at 1 to 7 frames per second, 6MP at 1 to 10, 5MP at 1 to 12, 4MP and 3MP at 1 to 15, and 1080P and lower at 1 to 25/30 frames per second. HDMI output goes up to 3840 x 2160.
Does it come with a hard drive?
It has one SATA bay for a drive of up to 10TB. Choose a drive from the Hard Drive option on this page, or choose recorder only and supply your own.
Can I record sound and talk through the cameras?
It has 1 RCA audio input and 1 RCA audio output, and Dahua lists two-way talk using the same audio in and out. Dahua also lists coaxial audio over the same cable. If you record audio, display signage saying so.
Can I control PTZ cameras?
Dahua lists one RS485 port for PTZ control.
Can I watch it on my phone?
Dahua lists iPhone, iPad and Android interoperability, P2P and up to 128 users.
