The Dahua HAC-HDW2241T-Z-A is a 2MP 1080p Starlight HDCVI IR eyeball turret CCTV camera from Dahua's Pro series. It pairs 120dB true WDR and 3DNR with a 2.7-13.5mm motorised lens, up to 60m of IR night vision and a built-in microphone for low-light installations. Its IP67 housing is waterproof for outdoor use. Dahua's datasheet lists it as DH-HAC-HDW2241T-Z-A. This is the 12V DC model, and a DIP switch selects four output formats: HDCVI, CVBS and two other HD analogue formats.

What does Starlight mean on the HAC-HDW2241T-Z-A?

Dahua's Starlight feature uses a large, high-performance sensor so more detail is captured and colour can be recognised at night or in scenes with limited light. This model lists 0.004 lux at F1.6 and 0 lux with IR on. Our Starlight guide explains it in more detail.

What does HDCVI mean?

HDCVI is Dahua's way of sending HD video over coaxial cable. Dahua says it can carry video, audio, data and power over one coax, and can upgrade an analogue system without replacing the existing coaxial cabling. Our HDCVI guide explains the range.

How far can it see?

The IR reaches up to 60 m (197 ft). Dahua's DORI figures for the wide end (2.7mm) are 44 m to detect, 18 m to observe, 9 m to recognize and 4 m to identify; at the tele end (13.5mm) they are 153 m, 61 m, 31 m and 15 m.

Does it record sound?

It has an audio input (1 channel in) and a built-in microphone, and HDCVI supports audio over the coaxial cable. Dahua notes that audio input is available on some HDCVI models, and this one lists it.

How is it powered?

From 12 V DC with a ±30% input tolerance. Dahua lists maximum power consumption of 5.4 W with 12 V DC and IR on.

Which recorders does it work with?

Is it an outdoor camera?

Yes. It is IP67 rated, so it is protected against water and dust, and Dahua lists an operating range of -30 °C to +60 °C, which suits it to use as an outdoor CCTV camera on a coax run.
