Hikvision HiLook Cameras: Every Type in the Range Explained

HiLook cameras are made by Hikvision. HiLook is Hikvision's value brand, so each camera uses Hikvision's image processing, compression and night-vision technology at a lower price. This guide goes through every type of HiLook camera we stock, says what each one is for, and links to an example.

First decision: IP or HD-TVI?

Starting from scratch? Go IP. One network cable per camera carries power and picture (PoE), and the cameras record to an HiLook NVR.

Replacing an old analogue system? Consider HD-TVI. TVI cameras run over your existing coax cable and record to an HiLook DVR, saving the cost of re-cabling.

Infrared IP cameras: the dependable all-rounder

Infrared (IR) cameras record in black and white at night using light you can't see. They are discreet and need no visible lighting.

ColorVu: colour pictures at night

ColorVu cameras pair a sensitive sensor with a soft white light, so they record in colour after dark. Colour makes it far easier to describe clothing or a car.

Compare them side by side on HiLook colour night vision cameras.

ColorVu 3.0 Smart Hybrid Light: the best of both

These cameras stay on infrared until they detect a person or vehicle, then switch to colour. You get discreet nights and colour evidence when it counts, without a light shining all night at the neighbours.

The ColorVu 3.0 explained guide covers how it works.

4K and 12MP: for zooming into recordings

Higher resolution means more detail when you zoom into recorded footage, which is useful over a wide drive or car park. Make sure your NVR can record it.

180° panoramic dual-lens: one camera, a whole frontage

Two lenses stitched into one 180° picture. One of these can replace two or three ordinary cameras across a shop front, yard or garden.

Motorised varifocal: set the view exactly

A 2.8–12mm motorised lens lets you zoom in remotely during setup, so you can frame a gate or doorway further away.

PTZ: pan, tilt and zoom

PTZ cameras move and zoom on command, which suits large open areas watched by a person.

Wi-Fi cameras: where a cable won't reach

Wi-Fi cameras still need power, but no data cable. They suit outbuildings and homes where running network cable is hard.

Record them on the NVR-104MH-D/W Wi-Fi NVR, or on any HiLook NVR over your network.

HD-TVI cameras: upgrade over existing coax
