Watch: build a Texecom alarm kit
The video builds a Premier Elite 64-W LIVE wireless kit and adds Ricochet PIRs, Micro Contact-W door contacts, a 5Ci-W sounder, a SmartKey fob and a smoke/heat detector.
Step by step
Choose Texecom. Open the alarm kit builder and pick Texecom on the first screen. Prices are shown to everyone, including VAT and ex VAT.
Start from a kit, or skip. Premier Elite 64-W and 64-W LIVE wireless kits, hybrid kits and wired Premier Elite 24 and 48 kits are all offered. Not sure which? Read Texecom alarm kits: which to choose.
Control panel. If your kit already has a panel, skip this step. Otherwise choose a Premier Elite or Veritas panel. Compare them in Premier Elite control panels compared.
Keypads and cards. Add a Premier LCD, LCDP or SMK keypad, or the wireless LCDLP-W, and proximity tags.
Motion detectors. Add one detector per room or hallway: Ricochet wireless PIRs or wired Capture and Premier detectors. See the Capture detectors guide.
Door and window contacts. Micro Contact-W and Impaq contact and shock sensors for every outside door and any window you want protected.
Sounders. An Odyssey external sounder, or the 5Ci-W wireless internal sounder. More in the Odyssey sounders guide.
Key fobs and panic buttons. SmartKey fobs and the DP-W wireless panic button.
Smoke, heat and CO. Ricochet OH-W smoke/heat and CO-W carbon monoxide detectors, plus wired Exodus heat detectors.
Extras and accessories. Brackets, communicators, expanders and spares.
Review. Check the list and total, then press Add kit to basket.
Wired, wireless or hybrid?
Texecom sells wired, wireless and hybrid systems, so the builder offers all three. Wireless Ricochet devices need a wireless panel such as the Premier Elite 64-W, or a wired panel with a wireless expander. Wired devices need a wired or hybrid panel. The builder labels wired devices so you can see which is which. If you are mixing both, the 32 zone hybrid kit (KIT-1005) is the easiest starting point.
Tips for a good Texecom kit
One motion detector per room or hallway you want covered.
A contact on every outside door, plus easy-to-reach windows.
At least one external sounder on the front of the building.
One fob or tag per person who arms and disarms the alarm.
