The TP-Link Omada EAP610 is an AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 ceiling mount access point for business Wi-Fi. It delivers up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, has one Gigabit Ethernet port, and is powered by 802.3af PoE, 48 V passive PoE or the included 12 V/1 A DC adapter. TP-Link rate it for ceiling, wall or junction box mounting, covering up to 115 m² (1250 ft²) and 250+ concurrent clients.

What the EAP610 is for

The EAP610 is the entry point into Omada Wi-Fi 6 for offices, shops, cafes, clinics and small hotels. It replaces the Wi-Fi from a consumer router with a proper ceiling-mounted tp link access point that hands clients between units as people move around.

One cable from a PoE switch carries data and power. Add more EAP610s as the site grows and manage them all from one Omada controller, with VLAN-tagged guest SSIDs and a captive portal for visitors.

What you will need

A PoE source and a network cable to the mounting position. A 12 V/1 A DC power adapter is included, so PoE is optional. For central management, add an Omada controller (hardware, software or Omada Central cloud).

Does the EAP610 support PoE, and which TP-Link PoE switch powers it?

Yes. TP-Link list 802.3af PoE and 48 V passive PoE, with a maximum draw of 10.9 W on PoE, so any 802.3af or 802.3at PoE switch, for example the Omada SG2210MP or SG2016P will power it. It also ships with a 12 V/1 A DC adapter if there is no PoE at the mounting point.

Does the EAP610 need an Omada controller?

It can be set up on its own through its web interface or the Omada app, and it is managed centrally by any Omada controller: TP-Link list Omada Central (cloud-based), the Omada hardware controllers such as the OC200 and OC300, and the free Omada Software Controller. TP-Link note that cloud access requires an Omada controller.

What Wi-Fi standard is the EAP610?

It is Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), AX1800 class, with TP-Link quoting up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz.

How many devices and how much area does the EAP610 cover?

TP-Link quote 250+ concurrent clients and coverage of up to 115 m² (1250 ft²). These are TP-Link test figures; walls, ceilings and interference reduce real coverage, so plan a site survey for larger buildings.

Can the EAP610 be used outdoors?

No. It is an indoor unit rated for an operating temperature of 0–40 °C. For outdoor Wi-Fi see the Omada outdoor models in our access points range.

How does the EAP610 compare with the EAP653?

Both are 160 mm Omada Wi-Fi 6 ceiling units. The EAP610 is AX1800 (1201 Mbps on 5 GHz); the EAP653 is AX3000 (2402 Mbps on 5 GHz) and needs 802.3at PoE+. Choose the EAP653 for denser areas with newer Wi-Fi 6 laptops and phones.

How quickly can I get it?

We ship nationally from our multi-million pound warehouse, with orders leaving daily. Orders placed before 2:30pm are normally dispatched for delivery within 1–2 working days to England, Scotland and Wales. You can also collect in store from our trade counter — call first so we can confirm your order is ready. We do not ship to Northern Ireland.
