The TP-Link Omada EAP653 is an AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 ceiling mount access point for business Wi-Fi. It delivers 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz, has one Gigabit Ethernet port, and is powered by 802.3at PoE+, 48 V passive PoE or 12 V DC. TP-Link rate it for ceiling, wall or junction box mounting, covering up to 140 m² (1500 ft²) and 250+ concurrent clients.
What the EAP653 is for
The EAP653 is the mainstream Omada Wi-Fi 6 ceiling tp link access point: AX3000 speed for offices, shops, clinics and hotels.
Power it from a PoE+ switch and manage a whole site from one Omada controller or Omada Central.

What you will need
A PoE source and a network cable to the mounting position. The DC power adapter is not included. For central management, add an Omada controller (hardware, software or Omada Central cloud).

Does the EAP653 support PoE, and which TP-Link PoE switch powers it?
Yes. TP-Link specify 802.3at PoE+ input and a maximum draw of 13.5 W (EU version), so power it from an 802.3at PoE+ switch such as the Omada SG2210MP (8 PoE+ ports) or SG2428P (24 PoE+ ports). It also accepts 12 V/1.0 A DC (EU) or 48 V passive PoE; no DC adapter is included.
Does the EAP653 need an Omada controller?
It can be set up on its own through its web interface or the Omada app, and it is managed centrally by any Omada controller: TP-Link list Omada Central (cloud-based), the Omada hardware controllers such as the OC200 and OC300, and the free Omada Software Controller. TP-Link note that cloud access requires an Omada controller.
What Wi-Fi standard is the EAP653?
It is Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), AX3000 class, with TP-Link quoting 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz.
How many devices and how much area does the EAP653 cover?
TP-Link quote 250+ concurrent clients and coverage of up to 140 m² (1500 ft²). These are TP-Link test figures; walls, ceilings and interference reduce real coverage, so plan a site survey for larger buildings.
Can the EAP653 be used outdoors?
No. It is an indoor unit rated for an operating temperature of 0–40 °C. For outdoor Wi-Fi see the Omada outdoor models in our access points range.
EAP653 or EAP610?
The EAP653 is AX3000 (2402 Mbps on 5 GHz) and needs PoE+; the EAP610 is AX1800 (1201 Mbps on 5 GHz), runs on 802.3af and includes a DC adapter.
How quickly can I get it?
We ship nationally from our multi-million pound warehouse, with orders leaving daily. You can also collect in store from our trade counter — call first so we can confirm your order is ready. We do not ship to Northern Ireland.
