The TP-Link Omada MC200CM is a gigabit media converter from 10/100/1000M RJ45 to 1000BASE-SX multi-mode fibre (SC), up to 550 m. It converts a copper RJ45 Ethernet link to 850 nm multi-mode fibre, up to 550 m on 50/125 μm fibre or 220 m on 62.5/125 μm fibre, so you can carry gigabit Ethernet far beyond the 100 m limit of copper cable.
What the MC200CM is for
Fibre media converters like the MC200CM are used in pairs, or with a fibre port on a network switch, to link buildings, gatehouses, car-park CCTV poles or plant rooms where a copper run is too long or exposed to interference.
TP-Link supply it as a standalone unit with an external power adapter, and it can also be mounted in the MC1400 14-slot chassis when you have several links in one cabinet.

What you will need
You need multi-mode fibre with SC/UPC connectors between the two ends, a matching converter or switch port at the far end, an RJ45 patch lead to your switch or device, and a mains socket for the power adapter.

What fibre does the MC200CM use?
TP-Link list multi-mode fibre at 850 nm, with two SC/UPC fibre ports.
How far can the MC200CM transmit?
TP-Link quote up to 550 m on 50/125 μm fibre or 220 m on 62.5/125 μm fibre.
Does the MC200CM need a matching unit at the other end?
Yes. Use another MC200CM at the far end, or a switch with a 1000BASE-SX multi-mode fibre port such as an SFP slot fitted with the SM311LM. Both ends must be multi-mode at 850 nm.
Can the MC200CM go in a rack chassis?
Yes. The MC200CM is chassis mountable, and the MC1400 14-slot rackmount chassis is the TP-Link chassis for its 9VDC media converters.
What is the difference between the MC200CM and MC210CS?
The MC200CM is for multi-mode fibre up to 550 m. The MC210CS is for single-mode fibre up to 20 km.
How quickly can I get it?
We ship nationally from our multi-million pound warehouse, with orders leaving daily. Orders placed before 2:30pm are normally dispatched for delivery within 1–2 working days to England, Scotland and Wales. You can also collect in store from our trade counter.
