Yealink describes the VP59 as its flagship smart video phone for executives and teleworkers. It runs Android 7.1 on an 8-inch 1280 x 800 capacitive touch screen that tilts, and has a removable 2MP camera with privacy shutter for 1080p30 video calls. Built-in dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2, an HDMI output and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with PoE are all on board.

What the VP59 is for

The VP59 is for desks where face-to-face calls matter: executives, managers and home workers. It handles up to 16 SIP accounts, 3-way video conferencing and 10-way mixed audio/video conferencing, and with a Yealink DD10K DECT dongle it becomes a corded-cordless phone with up to 4 DECT handsets. What you will need

A SIP account or IP PBX that supports video calls, and a PoE (IEEE 802.3af) network port or an optional Yealink 12 V power adapter (not in the box as standard). For cordless handsets, add the Yealink DD10K DECT dongle and supported handsets.

Is a power adapter included?

Yealink lists the power adapter as optional. The VP59 runs from PoE (IEEE 802.3af, Class 3); without PoE you need the optional 12 V/1 A Yealink adapter.

Can I install apps on the VP59?

Yes. It runs Android 7.1 and supports third-party Android applications; Yealink states only the administrator can install or uninstall apps, via auto provisioning.

Can I add cordless handsets?

Yes. With the Yealink DD10K DECT USB dongle the VP59 supports up to 4 DECT handsets (W52H, W53H, W56H, DD Phone or CP930W).

Does the camera have a privacy shutter?

Yes. The removable 2MP camera has a privacy shutter.
