Texecom Capture Range: What Replaced Premier Elite Wireless

The Texecom Capture range took over from the Premier Elite wireless detectors: the XT-W became the Capture P15-W, the QD-W became the Q20-W, the DT-W became the D20-W and the Premier 360 QD-W became the CQ-W. Texecom also added a ceiling dual tech model, the CD-W, and later upgraded the whole range under the name Capture Remastered.

If you maintain an older Ricochet wireless system or are planning a new one, it pays to know which Texecom Capture range detector matches which Premier Elite part code. This guide covers the wireless changeover, what Capture Remastered improved, how to choose between the models, and the newer Capture PET, C15 and LR50 detectors.

Why the Texecom Capture range replaced Premier Elite wireless

In December 2021 Texecom told its distribution partners that four Premier Elite wireless detectors were being discontinued in favour of Capture equivalents. Distributors had until 20 December 2021 to place last-time-buy orders, subject to stock, and orders that arrived after that date were not accepted.

Texecom gave two reasons. Capture had been well received since its launch, and Texecom regards it as its top-performing and most dependable detector range to date, as well as the easiest to fit. Texecom was also facing growing problems sourcing components for the Premier Elite wireless devices, problems that did not affect Capture. Texecom said every Capture replacement offers better features than the Premier Elite model it succeeds, although the notice did not list them.

Premier Elite to Capture: what replaced what

Each pair shares the same detection technology. To find the like-for-like swap, match the old part code (starting GB) to its new Capture code (starting GD).

The CD-W is the odd one out. Texecom listed it alongside the replacements, but there was no Premier Elite wireless model before it.

What Capture Remastered changed

In January 2023 Texecom announced Capture Remastered, a redesign and upgrade of the range that it said was shaped by user feedback. Texecom summed up the aim as "Form, function, & performance – perfectly blended". The changes it listed fall into three groups:

  • Build and installation: tidier cable management, a strengthened housing around the terminal block, better materials for the locking cam and enhanced testing.
  • Detection: improved microwave sensitivity, refined pet sensitivity and new algorithm-based firmware.
  • Specific models: anti-masking upgrades to the Capture A20, improved battery performance on the wireless models, and new lens options that Texecom said were on the way.

The announcement did not mention any change to part codes.

How to choose the right Capture detector

Everyday rooms and hallways

The Capture P15-W covers 15m / 90° volumetrically using a dual element pyro, with an optional PetWise mode. It mounts between 1.5m and 3m and is rated EN50131-2-2 Grade 2.

Better false alarm immunity

The Capture Q20-W steps up to a quad element pyro for improved false alarm immunity and keeps the optional PetWise mode. It is rated Grade 2 under both EN50131-2-2 and PD6662:2017.

Dual tech detection

The Capture D20-W is the wireless dual tech model in the range and the direct successor to the Premier Elite DT-W. It also offers an optional PetWise mode and carries Grade 2 ratings under EN50131-2-2 and PD6662:2017.

Ceiling mounting

The Capture CQ-W gives 9.3m / 360° coverage from a quad element pyro and includes a low sensitivity mode. The Capture CD-W pairs a quad pyro with K-band microwave for 8m / 360° coverage, offers low sensitivity, dual tech and CloakWise modes, and is rated EN50131-2-4 Grade 2.

Wired systems and Grade 3

Capture is not wireless-only, and we also stock wired versions such as the P15, Q20 and D20. Where anti-masking is required, the Capture A20 20m anti-mask dual tech detector is a wired Grade 3 model and the one that received the Remastered anti-masking upgrades.

Newer Capture models: PET, C15 and LR50

Texecom has continued to expand the range since Remastered:

Zenith does not currently list these three models online, so please contact us for availability. You can browse everything we do stock on our Texecom brand page.
