Texecom Midnight Black: Black Alarm Detectors for Dark Interiors

Texecom Midnight Black is a black-finish version of selected Texecom Capture detectors, Impaq shock sensors, Micro wireless devices and Premier Elite keypads, made for sites where a white sensor would stand out. Zenith currently lists four Midnight Black devices: the Capture P15-W, Capture CD, Micro Contact-W and Impaq SC-W. For other models in the range, contact us for availability.

What is the Texecom Midnight Black collection?

Alarm detectors are usually white. That works on pale walls and white ceilings, but it looks out of place in a room with dark paint, exposed black ductwork or a matt black ceiling. Texecom's answer is the Midnight Black collection, which it describes as "Working in harmony with darker environments."

Texecom says the range is aimed at businesses and sites that want, or need, security that stays discreet and suits a contemporary interior. It brings several Texecom lines together in one dark finish, each model with its own black part code:

  • Capture detectors: wired and wireless wall-mount PIR, quad PIR and dual-technology models, plus omni-directional ceiling-mount versions. Texecom lists the Capture models as Grade 2.
  • Premier Elite keypads: the wired LCDLP and the wireless LCDLP-W, with backlit keys, a blue LCD and optional proximity tags for arming and disarming.
  • Impaq S series: shock sensors and shock-plus-contact units that use Texecom's VIBER accelerometer technology.
  • Micro Contact-W and Micro Shock-W: small wireless contacts and shock sensors for doors, windows and walls.

Where black alarm devices make sense

A detector has to sit where it can see, usually high on a wall or in the middle of a ceiling. In a bright white room nobody notices it. On a charcoal feature wall it is the first thing people see. Black devices tend to suit:

  • Bars, restaurants and hotels with dark or industrial-style interiors
  • Retail units and showrooms with black ceilings or open services
  • Offices, studios and galleries that use a dark colour scheme
  • Homes with dark-painted rooms, cinema rooms or black window frames

A black finish is about appearance, so pick it to suit the room. The aim is equipment that blends in rather than equipment that is hidden, because a detector still needs a clear view of the area it protects.

Capture P15-W wireless PIR (GDA-0006)

The Texecom Capture P15-W in black is a wireless PIR for Texecom Ricochet systems. It uses a dual-element pyro, covers 15m at 90° and mounts between 1.5m and 3m high. It also has an optional PetWise mode.

Capture CD ceiling dual tech (AKG-0006)

For rooms where a wall-mounted sensor would look awkward, the black Capture CD ceiling detector is wired and gives 8m / 360° coverage. It pairs a quad-element pyro with dual technology and is rated to PD6662:2017 Grade 2.

Micro Contact-W (GHA-0014)

The Micro Contact-W in black is a small wireless magnetic contact, which makes it a good match for dark door frames and black window profiles. If you are fitting it to metal, use the deep base.

Impaq SC-W shock and contact (GJA-0014)

The black Impaq SC-W puts a shock sensor and a magnetic contact in one wireless unit. It uses VIBER accelerometer technology with digital signal processing to detect shocks, and adds a roller shutter input for partly-open protection.

Midnight Black models not currently on our site

Texecom's collection is wider than our current range. At the time of writing, Zenith does not list the black versions of the wired Capture P15, Q20 and D20, the wireless Q20-W and D20-W, the CQ, CQ-W and CD-W ceiling models, the Micro Shock-W, the wired Impaq S and Impaq SC, or the Premier Elite LCDLP and LCDLP-W keypads. If you need any of these, contact us for availability and we will check what we can source.

If you would like a dark keypad, we list the Premier Elite SMK surface mount keypad in Diamond Black. It is a different finish, and Texecom does not include it in the Midnight Black collection. You can compare white and black sensors on our intruder alarm detectors page.

Planning a Midnight Black installation

Choose a black finish the same way you would choose any other Texecom device: start with the panel you have, then decide between wired and wireless. Texecom's wireless Capture models, the Impaq SC-W, the Micro Contact-W and the LCDLP-W keypad use its Ricochet mesh. Texecom says the LCDLP-W needs a Premier Elite system with a V3.1 or later wireless receiver, so check your receiver version before ordering. Wired models such as the Capture CD are cabled back to the alarm system, so they suit refurbishments where cable runs are already in place.

FAQs

Are Texecom Midnight Black detectors graded?

Yes. Texecom lists the Midnight Black Capture detectors as Grade 2, and our page for the black Capture P15-W (GDA-0006) shows EN50131-2-2 Grade 2. Check each product page for the exact standard before you buy.

Which Texecom Midnight Black products does Zenith sell?

We currently list the Capture P15-W (GDA-0006), Capture CD (AKG-0006), Micro Contact-W (GHA-0014) and Impaq SC-W (GJA-0014) in black. For other models in the collection, contact us for availability.

Will the wireless Midnight Black devices work with my Texecom system?

Texecom's wireless Midnight Black devices, such as the Capture P15-W and Impaq SC-W, use its Ricochet mesh. Texecom states that the LCDLP-W keypad needs a Premier Elite system with a V3.1 or higher wireless receiver. If you are unsure what your system has, ask your installer or our team before you buy.

Where do black alarm sensors work best?

Black sensors suit rooms with dark walls, black ceilings or exposed services, such as bars, shops, studios and modern homes. In these rooms a white sensor would stand out.
