Buying from Zenith Security Co.
We are a supplier, not an installer. We will go through the EAP225-Outdoor with you before you buy — how many access points your site actually needs, whether your switch has the PoE budget, and which Omada controller suits you — and depending on your requirements and your area we can recommend a qualified trade installer. We have been operating since 2012 and you can visit our trade counter in Wolverhampton.
Does the EAP225-Outdoor support PoE, and which TP-Link PoE switch powers it?
Yes. TP-Link list 802.3af PoE (802.3af/at on the port) and 24 V passive PoE, with a maximum draw of 10.5 W, so any 802.3af or 802.3at PoE switch, for example the Omada SG2210MP or SG2016P, will power it. A 24 V passive PoE adapter is also included.
Does the EAP225-Outdoor need an Omada controller?
It can be set up on its own through its web interface or the Omada app, and it is managed centrally by any Omada controller: TP-Link list Omada Central (cloud-based), the Omada hardware controllers such as the OC200 and OC300, and the free Omada Software Controller. TP-Link note that cloud access requires an Omada controller.
What Wi-Fi standard is the EAP225-Outdoor?
It is Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), AC1200 class, with TP-Link quoting up to 867 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz.
Can the EAP225-Outdoor be used outdoors?
Yes. The EAP225-Outdoor has an IP65 weatherproof enclosure and is rated for -30 to 70 °C, so it can be pole or wall mounted outside.
EAP225-Outdoor or EAP610-Outdoor?
The EAP225-Outdoor is Wi-Fi 5 and runs on 802.3af; the EAP610-Outdoor is Wi-Fi 6 and needs PoE+ or its passive adapter. The indoor equivalent is the EAP225.
