The TP-Link Omada EAP653 UR is an AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 ultra-range ceiling mount access point for business Wi-Fi. It delivers 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz, has one Gigabit PoE+ port, and is powered by 802.3at PoE+, 48 V passive PoE or 12 V/1.5 A DC. TP-Link rate it for ceiling, wall or junction box mounting, covering up to 185 m² (2000 ft²) and 250+ concurrent clients.
What the EAP653 UR is for
The EAP653 UR is the long-range version of the EAP653, for larger rooms and corridors where you want fewer ceiling access points.
It uses the same 160 mm body as the EAP610 and EAP653, and like every Omada tp link access point it joins one controller-managed network.

What you will need
A PoE source and a network cable to the mounting position. The DC adapter is not included. For central management, add an Omada controller (hardware, software or Omada Central cloud).

Does the EAP653 UR support PoE, and which TP-Link PoE switch powers it?
Yes. TP-Link specify 802.3at PoE+ input and a maximum draw of 14.2 W (EU version), so power it from an 802.3at PoE+ switch such as the Omada SG2210MP (8 PoE+ ports) or SG2428P (24 PoE+ ports). It also accepts 12 V/1.5 A DC or 48 V passive PoE; no DC adapter is included.
Does the EAP653 UR need an Omada controller?
It can be set up on its own through its web interface or the Omada app, and it is managed centrally by any Omada controller: TP-Link list Omada Central (cloud-based), the Omada hardware controllers such as the OC200 and OC300, and the free Omada Software Controller. TP-Link note that cloud access requires an Omada controller.
What Wi-Fi standard is the EAP653 UR?
It is Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), AX3000 class, with TP-Link quoting 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz.
How many devices and how much area does the EAP653 UR cover?
TP-Link quote 250+ concurrent clients and coverage of up to 185 m² (2000 ft²). These are TP-Link test figures; walls, ceilings and interference reduce real coverage, so plan a site survey for larger buildings.
Can the EAP653 UR be used outdoors?
No. It is an indoor unit rated for an operating temperature of 0–40 °C. For outdoor Wi-Fi see the Omada outdoor models in our access points range.
What is the difference between the EAP653 UR and EAP653?
Same AX3000 radio rates, but TP-Link rate the UR for 185 m² against 140 m² for the standard EAP653. The UR draws slightly more power (14.2 W against 13.5 W, EU).
