The TP-Link Omada EAP683 UR is an AX6000 Wi-Fi 6 ultra-range ceiling mount access point for business Wi-Fi. It delivers 1148 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 4804 Mbps on 5 GHz, has one 2.5 Gigabit PoE+ port, and is powered by 802.3at PoE+ or 12 V/2 A DC. TP-Link rate it for ceiling or wall mounting, covering up to 185 m² (2000 ft²) and 510+ concurrent clients.
What the EAP683 UR is for
The EAP683 UR is the top Omada Wi-Fi 6 ceiling tp link access point, built for large open areas such as warehouses, halls, open-plan offices and lecture rooms where fewer, more powerful APs are wanted.
Its 4x4 radios and 2.5G uplink give it headroom for a high number of clients per AP.

What you will need
A PoE source and a network cable to the mounting position. The power adapter is not included. For central management, add an Omada controller (hardware, software or Omada Central cloud).

Does the EAP683 UR support PoE, and which TP-Link PoE switch powers it?
Yes. TP-Link specify 802.3at PoE+ input and a maximum draw of 20.43 W (EU version), so power it from an 802.3at PoE+ switch such as the Omada SG2210MP (8 PoE+ ports) or SG2428P (24 PoE+ ports). It also accepts 12 V/2 A DC; no DC adapter is included.
Does the EAP683 UR need an Omada controller?
It can be set up on its own through its web interface or the Omada app, and it is managed centrally by any Omada controller: TP-Link list Omada Central (cloud-based), the Omada hardware controllers such as the OC200 and OC300, and the free Omada Software Controller. TP-Link note that cloud access requires an Omada controller.
What Wi-Fi standard is the EAP683 UR?
It is Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), AX6000 class, with TP-Link quoting 1148 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 4804 Mbps on 5 GHz.
How many devices and how much area does the EAP683 UR cover?
TP-Link quote 510+ concurrent clients and coverage of up to 185 m² (2000 ft²). These are TP-Link test figures; walls, ceilings and interference reduce real coverage, so plan a site survey for larger buildings.
Can the EAP683 UR be used outdoors?
No. It is an indoor unit rated for an operating temperature of 0–40 °C. For outdoor Wi-Fi see the Omada outdoor models in our access points range.
EAP683 UR or EAP673?
Both are 220 mm Wi-Fi 6 ceiling units with a 2.5G port. The EAP683 UR is AX6000 (1148 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, 510+ clients, 185 m²); the EAP673 is AX5400 (574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, 250+ clients, 140 m²).
