The TP-Link Omada SM311LS is a gigabit SFP module for single-mode fibre, 1310 nm, with an LC duplex connector and up to 20 km reach. It plugs into an SFP slot on a switch, router or media converter to add a fibre link.

What the SM311LS is for

An SFP module like the SM311LS lets you choose the link type per port on an Omada network switch. Typical jobs are linking a switch in an outbuilding, a second floor or a CCTV cabinet back to the core switch, where a copper run would be too long.

TP-Link list DDM, hot-swap support and SFP-MSA compliance for the SM311LS, so it can be fitted or replaced without powering the switch down. Both ends of a link must use matching module types and the right cable.

Which TP-Link switches is the SM311LS compatible with?

It fits a 1G SFP slot, for example the SFP slots on the Omada SG2428P switch, or the SFP slot on the MC220L media converter. TP-Link publish an Omada compatibility list, or send us your switch model and we will check.

Is the SM311LS hot-swappable and does it support DDM?

Yes. TP-Link list it as hot-swappable, with DDM (digital diagnostic monitoring) and SFP-MSA compliance.

What is the difference between the SM311LS and SM311LM?

The SM311LS is for single-mode fibre at 1310 nm. The SM311LM is for multi-mode fibre at 850 nm and shorter runs of up to 550 m.

Do I need two fibre cores for the SM311LS?

Yes. It has an LC duplex connector, so it uses a fibre pair. To run over a single core, use a BiDi pair such as the SM321A and SM321B.

How quickly can I get it?
