The RG-RAP1260 is a multi-port Wi-Fi 6 wall plate access point that mounts on a junction box. It offers up to 2401 Mbps on 5 GHz and 573 Mbps on 2.4 GHz with 2x2 MU-MIMO on each band, and Ruijie describe it as more than Wi-Fi, with four ports for multi-task use.

Ruijie position the RG-RAP1260 as a Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 multi-port wall AP: more than Wi-Fi, with four ports for multi-task use. The specification lists five 10/100/1000BASE-T ports in total; as the unit is powered only over PoE, one of them has to take the feed from your switch. Ruijie quote a terminal access rate of up to 900 Mbps and use video conferencing as the example.

For capacity, Ruijie recommend 110 concurrent users, against a hardware maximum of 256 associated clients (64 on 2.4 GHz, 256 on 5 GHz). Ruijie state it is capable of Reyee Mesh and 802.11k/v/r and describe smart AI roaming, which matters where several access points cover one building and users move between rooms.

The cloud features Ruijie list are Reyee DDNS, cloud portal authentication, remote monitoring and maintenance, and firmware upgrades via the cloud. Limits to note: there is no PoE output, so wired devices plugged into it need their own power, and Ruijie give it an IP41 rating and a 0°C to 40°C operating range.

What you will need

The RG-RAP1260 has no local power input, so it needs a PoE switch port or a PoE injector. Its maximum consumption is 12 W, within the 15.4 W an IEEE 802.3af port supplies, so a standard PoE port is enough; when planning the switch, add up the draw of every powered device. You also need a junction box to mount it on and a network cable run back to the switch. Ruijie's page does not list box contents for this model, so ask us what is in the box before ordering.

Can a standard PoE switch power the RG-RAP1260?

Yes. Ruijie list the power supply as PoE/PoE+ with a maximum consumption of 12 W, which is within the 15.4 W an IEEE 802.3af port supplies. There is no local power input, so PoE is the only way to power it.

Does the RG-RAP1260 supply PoE to devices plugged into it?
