The RG-RAP1261 is a Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 wall plate access point that Ruijie describe as 86 mm standard compatible and that mounts on a junction box. It offers up to 2401 Mbps on 5 GHz and 573 Mbps on 2.4 GHz with 2x2 MU-MIMO, has two gigabit Ethernet ports and is powered over PoE with 802.3af input.

Ruijie describe the RG-RAP1261 as a gigabit wireless wall-mounted AP that is 86 mm standard compatible, and quote a speed test reaching 950 Mbps. Their page highlights a thin design quoted at 8.5 mm and cooling patent technology said to reduce temperature by an average of 7°C in working mode. The specification table gives overall dimensions of 86 mm x 42.4 mm x 86 mm and Ruijie do not say what the 8.5 mm measures, so ask us if depth matters.

It has two 10/100/1000BASE-T ports. The unit is powered only over PoE, so one port takes the feed from your switch and the other is left for a wired device; there is no PoE output. The hardware maximum is 256 associated clients (64 on 2.4 GHz, 256 on 5 GHz). Ruijie state it is capable of Reyee Mesh and 802.11k/v/r and describe smart AI roaming between access points.

The cloud features Ruijie list are Reyee DDNS, cloud portal authentication, remote monitoring and maintenance, and firmware upgrades via the cloud. Their page also describes securely monitoring an NVR, IP camera or internal server from anywhere, whether the gateway WAN port has a dynamic or a private IP. Ruijie do not state an IP rating for this model and the operating range is 0°C to 40°C, so do not treat it as weatherproof.

What you will need

The RG-RAP1261 has no local power input, so it needs a PoE switch port or a PoE injector. Ruijie state PoE in 802.3af and a maximum consumption of 10.2 W, so a standard PoE port is enough. You also need a junction box to mount it on (Ruijie describe the unit as 86 mm standard compatible) and a network cable run back to the switch. Ruijie's page does not list box contents for this model, so ask us what is in the box before ordering.

What PoE does the RG-RAP1261 need?

Ruijie state PoE in 802.3af, list the power supply as PoE/PoE+ and give a maximum consumption of 10.2 W, so a standard 802.3af PoE switch port or injector will power it. There is no local power input.
