TL-SG1008MP — 8-Port Gigabit Desktop/Rackmount Switch with 8-Port PoE+
The TP-Link TL-SG1008MP is an 8-port unmanaged switch with 8× gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbps) RJ45 ports, 8 of them PoE+ (153 W budget), in a desktop/rack-mountable case with 1 fan. It is plug and play, so it works out of the box with no configuration.
What the TL-SG1008MP is for
The TL-SG1008MP is a PoE switch for powering and connecting IP cameras, Wi-Fi access points and VoIP phones over a single network cable. TP-Link list a 153 W PoE budget shared across its 8 PoE ports, using 802.3af/at PoE+.
Add up the PoE draw of every device from its datasheet and keep the total within 153 W. For IP cameras that suit it, see our TP-Link VIGI cameras, and for other sizes our full range of network switches.

What you will need
You need network cable for each device (Cat5e or above for gigabit links) and a mains socket for the switch. Total PoE draw of all connected devices must stay within the 153 W budget.
Buying from Zenith Security Co.
We are a supplier, not an installer. We will go through the TL-SG1008MP with you before you buy (the number of ports you need, the port speed against your devices and the PoE budget against your cameras or access points) and depending on your requirements and your area we can recommend a qualified trade installer. We have been operating since 2012 and you can visit our trade counter in Wolverhampton.
What is the PoE budget of the TL-SG1008MP?
TP-Link list a 153 W PoE budget shared across 8 PoE ports. Add up the draw of each device from its datasheet; PTZ and heated cameras draw more than fixed cameras.
Which PoE standard does the TL-SG1008MP support?
The PoE ports are 802.3af/at compliant, so they power standard PoE (15.4 W) and PoE+ (30 W) devices. They will not power 24 V passive PoE devices.
Is the TL-SG1008MP managed?
No. It is an unmanaged plug and play switch, so it has no web interface and needs no configuration.
How fast are the ports on the TL-SG1008MP?
All 8 RJ45 ports are gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbps).
Can the TL-SG1008MP be rack mounted?
Yes. TP-Link include a rackmount kit in the box for a 19-inch cabinet, and rubber feet for desktop use.
Is the TL-SG1008MP silent?
It has one fan, so it is not silent. For a quiet room, choose a fanless model.
