The TP-Link TL-SG108E is an 8-port Easy Smart managed switch with 8× gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbps) RJ45 ports, in a desktop case, fanless. It is plug and play out of the box, and adds VLAN, QoS and IGMP snooping settings through a web interface and TP-Link's Easy Smart Configuration Utility.

What the TL-SG108E is for

The TL-SG108E is an Easy Smart network switch: it works as plug and play, and you can add port-based or 802.1Q tag VLANs, QoS priority, IGMP snooping, link aggregation, port mirroring and cable diagnostics when you need them. Each port runs at up to 1 Gbps, which suits PCs, printers, NVRs and other wired devices.

The TL-SG108E does not supply PoE, so IP cameras and access points connected to it need their own power or a PoE injector. If you want to power cameras from the switch, look at our TP-Link PoE switches instead.

What you will need

You need network cable for each device (Cat5e or above for gigabit links) and a mains socket for the switch. It gives no PoE, so powered devices need a separate supply. The Easy Smart Configuration Utility runs on Microsoft Windows; the web interface works from any browser.

Does the TL-SG108E support PoE?

No. The TL-SG108E is a non-PoE switch. Devices that need PoE must be powered separately, for example with a PoE injector, or you can choose a TP-Link PoE switch.

What does Easy Smart mean on the TL-SG108E?

It is plug and play like an unmanaged switch, but TP-Link add a web-based interface and the Easy Smart Configuration Utility (for Microsoft Windows) so you can set VLANs, QoS, IGMP snooping, link aggregation and port mirroring.

No. The TL-SG108E is a desktop switch. For a rack cabinet choose a rack-mountable model such as the TL-SG1016 or TL-SG1024.

Yes. TP-Link list it as fanless, so it runs silently.
