The RG-RAP1200(F) is a dual-radio Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2) access point built as an 86 mm wall plate that mounts on a junction box. It takes its power over PoE, drawing no more than 8 W, and has two 10/100 Ethernet ports.

What the RG-RAP1200(F) is for

The RG-RAP1200(F) is a wall-plate access point: an 86 x 86 mm unit, 29.3 mm deep, that mounts on a junction box and is powered over PoE. Ruijie describe it as an 802.11ac Wave 2 access point with 2x2 MU-MIMO, rated at up to 866 Mbps on 5 GHz and 400 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with a hardware maximum of 110 associated wireless clients (64 on 2.4 GHz, 110 on 5 GHz).

Be clear about the wired side. Both Ethernet ports are 10/100BASE-T, so whatever rate the radios negotiate, traffic to and from the rest of the network is limited to 100 Mbps by the wired uplink. The unit has an IP41 rating and a 0°C to 40°C operating range, and Ruijie's specification lists no IPv6 support.

For setup, Ruijie say a Wi-Fi network can be built through the Ruijie Reyee App using self-organising network (SON) technology, and that Wi-Fi Intelligent Optimization (WIO) optimises the wireless network in one-click mode. The cloud functions Ruijie list are centralised network management, scenario-based configuration, cloud portal authentication, and remote monitoring and maintenance.

What you will need

A PoE source and a cable to the wall position. Ruijie list PoE/PoE+ as the power supply and the maximum consumption is 8 W, so a standard PoE (802.3af) port on a PoE switch, or an 802.3af PoE injector, is enough; there is no DC input, and no injector or power adapter is listed in the box. You also need a junction box at the mounting position and a run of network cable back to the switch. The box lists two mounting screws and a quick start guide. If you are fitting several rooms, add up the draw of every powered device against the switch's PoE budget.

Both Ethernet ports are 10/100BASE-T, so the wired uplink runs at up to 100 Mbps. The radios are rated at up to 866 Mbps on 5 GHz and 400 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, but traffic leaving the access point by cable is limited by that 100 Mbps link.
