The RG-RAP1201 is a wall-mounted Wi-Fi 5 access point in an 86 mm design that mounts on a junction box. It has 2x2 MU-MIMO under 802.11ac Wave2, with up to 866 Mbps on 5 GHz and 400 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, and two gigabit Ethernet ports.

What the RG-RAP1201 is for

Ruijie describe the RG-RAP1201 as a dual-radio, gigabit wall-mounted access point with an 86 mm design and easy installation. It is for rooms where the access point goes on a junction box in the wall, so the room gets its own Wi-Fi from a single PoE cable.

It has two 10/100/1000BASE-T ports. The unit is powered only over PoE, so one port takes the feed from your switch and the other is left for a wired device in the room. There is no PoE output, so anything plugged into it needs its own power. If you need more wired ports or PoE passthrough, the RG-RAP1200(P) is the five-port model.

Ruijie say a Wi-Fi network can be built through the Ruijie Reyee App using self-organising network (SON) technology, with one-click Wi-Fi optimisation (WIO) and Ruijie Cloud management covering centralised network management, cloud portal authentication and remote monitoring and maintenance. Limits to note: a hardware maximum of 110 associated clients (64 on 2.4 GHz, 110 on 5 GHz), an IP41 rating and a 0°C to 40°C operating range.

What you will need

The RG-RAP1201 has no local power input, so it needs a PoE switch port or a PoE injector. Its maximum consumption is 9 W, which is within the 15.4 W an IEEE 802.3af port supplies, so a standard PoE port is enough. You also need a junction box to mount it on and a network cable run back to the switch. Ruijie's page does not list box contents for this model, so ask us what is in the box before ordering.
