The Ruijie Reyee RG-RAP2266 is a round, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 access point for indoor ceiling or wall mounting. Its two radios give up to 573 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 2401 Mbps on 5 GHz, and its single Gigabit Ethernet port carries data and, when PoE is used, power as well.

What the RG-RAP2266 is for

Ruijie describe the RG-RAP2266's circular design as in keeping with hotel decor, and it can be fixed to a ceiling or a wall with a rotate-to-fit mount. It is an indoor unit: the rating is IP41 and the operating range is 0°C to 40°C, so it is not for outdoor positions. Where one unit is not enough, several access points can share a network, and the 802.11k/v roaming Ruijie list helps client devices move from one to the next.

The hardware maximum is 512 associated wireless clients with both bands enabled (64 on 2.4 GHz, 512 on 5 GHz). Treat that as an upper limit and not a planning figure, because real capacity depends on what the devices are doing. The wired side is a single Gigabit port, so traffic to and from the cabled network tops out at 1 Gbps even though the 5 GHz radio is rated at 2401 Mbps.

Reyee Mesh lets an extra access point be added with less wiring, which helps where a new cable run is awkward. Ruijie also list cloud functions for this model: cloud portal authentication, remote monitoring and maintenance, firmware upgrades via the cloud and Reyee DDNS.

What you will need

Power and a cabled network connection. The RG-RAP2266 draws up to 18 W, more than the 15.4 W a standard 802.3af port supplies, so plan on a PoE+ (802.3at) port on a PoE switch or a PoE+ injector. The alternative is a 12 V, 2 A DC adapter with a 5.5 mm x 2.1 mm plug; Ruijie's page does not list the box contents, so ask us whether one is supplied before relying on it. Allow a run of network cable to each mounting point.

Can the RG-RAP2266 run from a standard PoE switch port?

Ruijie list PoE/PoE+ as the power input, but the maximum consumption is 18 W, which is above the 15.4 W an 802.3af port supplies. Plan on a PoE+ (802.3at) port or injector, or use the 12 V DC input.

How many devices can connect to the RG-RAP2266?

Ruijie state a hardware maximum of 512 associated wireless clients with both bands enabled, made up of 64 on 2.4 GHz and 512 on 5 GHz. Treat that as an upper limit; the comfortable number depends on how much bandwidth each device uses.

Can the RG-RAP2266 be used outdoors?

No. It is an indoor access point rated IP41 with an operating temperature of 0°C to 40°C, for ceiling or wall mounting. For outside areas look for an outdoor model in the wireless access points range.

Does the RG-RAP2266 support roaming and mesh?

Yes. Ruijie list roaming based on 802.11k/v, which helps client devices move between access points, and Reyee Mesh for adding an extra access point with less wiring.

What ports does the RG-RAP2266 have?

One 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet port and a 12 V DC power connector. Ruijie list no PoE budget for it, so it does not power other devices.
