The Ruijie Reyee RG-RAP72Pro is a Wi-Fi 7 access point for ceiling or wall mounting that pairs a 3x3 5 GHz radio with a 2x2 2.4 GHz radio. It supports Multi-Link Operation and has two Ethernet ports, one 2.5GbE and one Gigabit.

What the RG-RAP72Pro is for

Ruijie present the RG-RAP72Pro for bandwidth-heavy uses, naming AR/VR, 8K streaming, live recording and video conferencing. The 5 GHz radio is 3x3 MU-MIMO at up to 4323 Mbps and the 2.4 GHz radio is 2x2 at up to 688 Mbps; there is no 6 GHz radio, so it is dual-band. MLO lets Wi-Fi 7 devices send and receive over links in different bands at the same time.

On the wired side there is one 10/100/1000/2500BASE-T port and one 10/100/1000BASE-T port. The 4323 Mbps 5 GHz radio rate is higher than a 2.5 Gbps link can carry, so the wired link sets the ceiling for traffic to the cabled network. The hardware maximum is 511 associated wireless clients with both bands enabled (64 on 2.4 GHz, 511 on 5 GHz). It is an indoor unit rated IP41 for 0°C to 40°C.

Ruijie also list Reyee AP Mesh, where several access points form a mesh to simplify wireless networking, one-click WIO (Wi-Fi Intelligent Optimization) and an AP portal for authentication and advertising pages. If you need a 6 GHz radio or a 10G SFP+ port, the tri-band RG-RAP73Pro has both.

What you will need

Power of the right class and a suitable switch port. Maximum consumption is 30 W, well above the 15.4 W of a standard 802.3af port, so use a PoE+ (802.3at) port on a PoE switch or a PoE+ injector, or the 12 V, 2.5 A DC input. Ruijie's page does not list box contents or say which of the two ports takes PoE, so ask us before ordering if either matters. For the wired link to run above 1 Gbps the switch port must support 2.5 Gbps; on a Gigabit switch it links at 1 Gbps. Allow Cat5e or better network cable to each unit.

Can I power the RG-RAP72Pro from a standard PoE port?

Plan on PoE+ (802.3at). Ruijie list PoE/PoE+ as the input, but the maximum consumption is 30 W and a standard 802.3af port supplies only up to 15.4 W. The 12 V, 2.5 A DC input is the alternative.

What Ethernet ports does the RG-RAP72Pro have?

Two: one 10/100/1000/2500BASE-T port and one 10/100/1000BASE-T port. Ruijie list no PoE budget for it, so it does not power other devices.
