The Ruijie Reyee RG-RAP52-OD is a small outdoor access point that gives up to 866 Mbps on 5 GHz and 400 Mbps on 2.4 GHz from two detachable antennas. It is rated IP65, works from -30°C to +65°C and fixes to a wall or a pole.

What the RG-RAP52-OD is for

Ruijie position the RG-RAP52-OD as a mini outdoor mesh access point for villas and retail businesses, and list Reyee Mesh, an AP portal and roaming as features for street-facing businesses. The body is 50 mm x 35.7 mm x 220 mm before the bracket and the 185 mm antennas are added, and it fixes to a wall or a pole. It is a Wi-Fi 5 (AC1300 Wave 2) unit, so it fits where outdoor coverage is the aim and Wi-Fi 6 is not required.

The radios are 2x2 MIMO on each band: up to 866 Mbps on 5 GHz and 400 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with a hardware maximum of 110 associated clients (64 on 2.4 GHz, 110 on 5 GHz) - a ceiling, not a working load. The two omnidirectional antennas detach on SMA-standard connectors, and Ruijie show directional antennas as the option for covering one specific area. Surge protection is listed as 4 kV for lightning and 15 kV for ESD.

Ruijie list cloud management for it, with a self-organising network, cloud portal authentication, centralised network management and remote monitoring and maintenance. The limits to know: one Gigabit Ethernet port and no IPv6 support according to the specification.

What you will need

A PoE source is essential: the RG-RAP52-OD has no DC input and takes its power over the Ethernet cable. Ruijie list PoE/PoE+ with a maximum consumption of 13.5 W, which a standard PoE (802.3af) port supplying up to 15.4 W covers, so an ordinary PoE switch port or a PoE injector is enough. Ruijie's page gives no box contents list, so do not assume an injector is included - ask us. Allow for an outdoor-rated network cable run to the wall or pole where it will be fixed.

How is the RG-RAP52-OD powered?

It is powered only over its Ethernet cable. Ruijie list PoE/PoE+ as the power supply, no local DC input and a maximum consumption of 13.5 W, so a standard PoE (802.3af) switch port or injector is enough.

Is the RG-RAP52-OD weatherproof?

Ruijie rate it IP65 and describe it as dust-proof and tested against strongly sprayed water. The operating temperature range is -30°C to +65°C, and 4 kV lightning and 15 kV ESD protection are listed.

Can the antennas on the RG-RAP52-OD be changed?

Yes. It has two external omnidirectional antennas that detach on SMA-standard connectors. Ruijie describe omnidirectional antennas for wider coverage and directional antennas for covering a specific area.

How many devices can connect to the RG-RAP52-OD?

Ruijie state a maximum of 110 associated wireless clients with both bands enabled: 64 on 2.4 GHz and 110 on 5 GHz. That is a hardware ceiling, so plan for fewer in normal use.

Is the RG-RAP52-OD a Wi-Fi 6 access point?
